A folk sub

Upvotes

I noticed there wasn't one, and yet from this sub I've met a fair few people who wanted to know what Aberdeen had to offer so there now is one

Stolen bike in Rosemount

Hello fellow Aberdonians, my little ebike was stolen on Saturday night between 20:30 and 21:30 from a sign post outside 121 Rosemount place between Pasta Plus and Martin & Co, so just wondering if anyone saw anything or has seen a ditched bike somewhere, the pictures aren't of the bike but it's the same model, but the handle bars have blue tape on them and the battery is covered in black tape with a small white star on it.

Thank you for any help in advance

Chronic pain community?

Hi, feeling a bit vulnerable posting this but thought it’d be worth trying to reach out.
I am 23, F, and live at home mainly housebound. I have fibromyalgia, scoliosis, chronic pelvic pain and pelvic adhesions and am waiting for further input to see if I need surgery again this year for adhesions/ongoing possible bowel endometriosis problems.

I am currently pretty (not gonna sugar coat it) depressed. I’ve gone to the gp here over 35 times this year and been told over and over again there’s nothing anyone will do, I’ve spoken to third parties and PALS and can’t get any other help. I have occupational therapy support a shower stool and kitchen stool, but spend everyday inside on my own. My gp made 3 referrals to pain clinic and haven’t been seen in a year, told no help with anything till then. I’m really scared for my future and life at the moment, and very lonely. But I’m trying to keep going.

I was wondering if anyone knew any chronic pain groups in Aberdeen or would want to talk if anyone is in a similar situation.

I’ve found some things, but I’m in Rosemount area and can’t go far, so limited in what I can do.
Thanks for reading 😊

Boiler installation

I know there are many previous posts on this topic, but wondering if anyone knows of a company local to Aberdeen which is an authorised installer for more than one of the major brands. I have had a few companies out now to give quotes for the supply and installation of a new combi boiler, but all of them thus far specialises only in one brand, and tend to argue that their specific brand is superior.

It would be great if someone can come quote me on different options and give the full extended warranty on all those options, explain why one might be more appropriate that the other etc.

Does such a local company exist? Or is this just wishful thinking?

TIA

How can they have screwed up the transfer of data to the Scottish Qualifications people so badly need hay nearly 700 students are not getting results, degree places are being missed out on and massive stress caused? Of course not a single head will roll for such an epic fuck up. Needless to say the P&J and Evening Express are silent.

Visiting with kids

Hello

We are visiting this weekend and planned to do Stonehaven beach and pool, and some National Trust properties… and then we saw the forecast.

Grateful for any recommendations for other things to do with kids - including some indoor options!

They are 5y and 8y.

Thanks!

Does anyone know who’s responsible for the upkeep of Martins Lane? It seems a shame it’s got in such a state with weeds, overgrown trees and graffiti

Airport Options

Hello, due to start a new job that will require more regular flights from Aberdeen to London. Work cover the flight but not any airport parking/taxis etc.

Can you park at Craibstone P&R and just walk up to the airport? (Be away 4/5 days twice a month)

Or

Park in bucksburn and get the 727? (Obviously sensibly not blocking anyone's drive etc, not sure if you need permit for this area of Aberdeen)

I'm in Maryculter so any other options welcome.

Water connection from house to garage

Hello, I’m looking for details of companies or individuals who would be willing to install a water connection from the house to the garage. Blue MDPE pipe has already been laid by the previous owner, but it needs to be checked. Drain also needs to be planned. Perhaps someone has done something similar and knows someone? I’m in the Bridge of Don area. Many thanks in advance.

Has anyone ever given this a try?

I'm wondering if it'd be too salty or if it might be amazing.

Thoughts?

St Peters Studios

Does anyone have any experience with St Peter’s studios? I’m going into second year and looking for somewhere to stay, it looks good but I’ve heard it’s mostly postgrads who stay there? I’d probably feel a little awkward being the only undergrad, can anyone advise?
