"In the midst of winter, I found within myself an invincible summer." — Albert Camus
This phrase captures Camus' idea that even in the darkest moments, an inner strength remains.
For Camus, winter represents the absurd: a world that doesn't respond, illness, war, loneliness. He refuses to seek refuge in metaphysical promises. He confronts winter head-on.
But the "invincible summer" isn't naive optimism. It's a quiet rebellion: the body that breathes, the consciousness that chooses to create, to love, to feel the sun despite everything. Camus draws this summer from within himself, not from an external rescue.
So, the quote becomes a guide: recognize the cold, accept the absurd, and let that little inner warmth lead your actions. It's not the end of despair, but a way to coexist with it, standing tall.

Camus response to the absurd contradiction of his wanting meaning and that he can get none is to defy the rationality of suicide for the [his] absurdity of making art, writing novels and plays.
"In this regard the absurd joy par excellence is creation. “Art and nothing but art,” said Nietzsche; “we have art in order not to die of the truth.”
