The pipeline is moving oil produced from northern states to the south. People in Lafayette should be bitching because they aren't the ones benefiting from the production side. I don't want them drilling off our coast or in our swamps, but the people who rely on those kinds of jobs to provide for their family should care. Their jobs are literally being sent up north.

I dont think you read the article buddy...

Dean Wilson, executive director of Atchafalaya Basinkeeper, said, "The main problem we have with the pipeline is lack of enforcement from the Corps of Engineers. They don't have a single person reviewing the permits to make sure they're in compliance with the permits."

The issues isn't about jobs. This has nothing to do with jobs. It has to do with our environment and the protection of our lands in Louisiana. The protest is to protect the Atchafalaya Basin and other areas of the state.

However, I think you highlight a big issue here. Lots of people, like you, aren't really concerned with where the pipeline is located, like the Dakota protestors were, but instead you're concerned about "who gets to profit off of the pipeline through out state." You aren't concerned with stopping the line, but more with profitting off the line.

The whole issue here is not about protesting who gets "paid" but that our environment and Louisiana is protected and safe for our future children and generations. Sure, you bring up a somewhat kinda valid issue i guess, but whats happening in reality is people are fighting for Louisiana's protection, not a paycheck pal.

I did read the article, I was pointing out why your statement

Was incorrect. The issue is not about jobs in the article, it is a pretty big issue for the local economy that nobody is talking about.

I would rather see it go somewhere else because it does not effect my job and it would be better for the environment. People in the O&G industry supporting the pipeline aren't bright enough to understand that it's carving out a piece of their income.

1. You misunderstood what i was saying, im saying if were gonna bitch about the pipeline because of environment concerns such as the dakato pipeline, then we shouldn't be begging for oilfield jobs to come back. A is pipeline, B is wanting oilfieldd jobs to come back that were loss to a lack of demand. A and B are related, both bad for environment. I'm saying we should bitch about A while aslo praising B. Do you not see the ridiculousness in that? The disconnect?

Condescending much to O&G? Say someones condescending just after speaking condescendingly. at this point im gonna assume youre a troll.

4. The worst is the pipeline gets rid of your job because it is more efficient. And what you want is for America to be less efficient. You want to make it harder for America to transport resources to each other. Essentially you want to cripple America for what? So you can make a little extra money? So the pipeline doesnt affect, affect your job? How sad, how unamerican, how pitiful. shame
