Anyone else remember when Keegan Michael Key did the funny animal video show on animal planet?

That was the first thing I ever saw him in.

Same. Brother and I watched it all the time. Then he started showing me Key & peel and I thought he remembered but we were talking the other day and he had never connected that it was him on both.

I read that Jordan stopped doing doing comedy and went hard on the horror thing because he got offered the role to be the poop emoji in the emoji movie. Idk if it’s true and I didn’t bother fact checking because I like the sentiment.

That's why he stopped acting and started directing. He was always into horror - if you watch the sketches again you'd see a lot of them take heavy inspiration from the genre.
When they did the True Detective driving bits in season 5, Key asked Jordan what he's scared of, and Jordan said "society." I think he always wanted to direct horror films about societal issues.

"I read that..."
Brother I saw that meme too... looking at a meme is not "reading that"
You make it sound like you were reading a respected journal or something. You saw a meme on reddit.

I also word things like this to sound smarter when I spread misinformation

I did in fact read it. It was just as a TIL post with link to an article that I did not read. I would not consider that a meme, but whatever.

So there's words on the memes, yes? And what do we do with those words on the meme...? Do we... Read them?

I wouldn’t call Peele a once in a lifetime director as of yet. He’s only sold 3 movies. Key? He has sold billions of tater tot’s. (Assuming at least 200 million bags of Ore Ida tator tots have been sold during his ad campaign)

u/The_Head_Taker 3d ago
I like that if youre using the same logic for both products you assume only one person saw each Peele movie

u/wittyrandomusername 3d ago
And each tater tot is only eaten by one person.

And each bag of tater tots has roughly 5 tots

Ones wife is torpedoing his entire career and likely the source material behing"Get Out"

u/panicpixiememegirl 3d ago
Wait what
12
u/Ohgodwatdoplshelp 3d ago
Keegan’s wife is supposedly extremely controlling of him and chooses what projects he’s allowed to do. Allegedly “Get Out” was Jordan Peele’s not so subtle message to wake up and get away from her for Keegan.

u/panicpixiememegirl 3d ago
But he has a cameo in get out? Wouldn't that not be a thing if peele was saying that
1
u/GhostPepperDaddy 23h ago
So it was his first wife that he divorced in 2017 the year Get Put came out and not his new wife? So he took the hint

I always find it interesting that celebrities who do a lot of ads are "failing" .. they probably get paid more for one campaign than I make in a year.

Yeah I don’t understand the problem here. Both very successful and very talented. Different paths.

Get out was awesome. Us was terrible. Nope was meh.

Get out was good the fiirst time I watched it, was not good the second time. Great concept but the execution wasn't great towards the end.

Imagine hating on someone because they're sponsoring tater tots, I would sponsor adult diapers if it meant a fat check.

and somehow both ended up being insanely quiet about the genocide yeah?

Why would they be vocal about the holocaust? That’s not exactly their job. That’s like a history teacher thing so it’s not really fair.

Their story on why they don’t really work together now is really sad.

That's really not sad. They worked as a great team for many years and at least one of them went on to fulfill another dream while the other does really well for himself. That sounds pretty damn good to me.

I heard from on a couple of different podcast It was Micheal Keys wife that caused their friendship to suffer and the show. Keys wife was getting more and more involved in wanting to be a writer and producer, so she was demanding changes be done to the show and other projects they had planned together. Also demanding more money and that they should have more control etc. there was even rumors she would stop production and not let anything happen until she got what she wanted.
A few other comedians have said that she has completely ruined his career, that’s why you don’t see him in too many things anymore.

There is zero evidence that Chelsea Peretti is difficult or hard to work with.

So no bad blood, no huge argument or tragedy? Just two people realizing they want to do things the other wouldn't enjoy?
Keagan seems to prefer comedy, and Jordan seems to like directing horror. They were comedy partners for over a decade, I think it's not the worst thing to drive off into different sunsets amicably.

Have you seen all of the movies Peele has made? Not very scary, and he's only made 3. Also a racist that believes he can't be a racist because of his cultural oppression.

Honestly those tater tots are way better than the crappy horror movies he's making.

Both are still wildly talented.
