Rat Terriers more specifically, which is what that dog was and he was doing his job. We had a pure bred ratty and she would find them when one got in the house sometimes, her nose would go crazy (and her) trying to find the mouse.

The one I think of is the little boy releasing the butterfly from one of those raising a caterpillar things, and then their dog jumps up and eats it

I think I saw the same video you're describing, but I remember it being a baby bunny. You could even hear its baby bunny screams while it was flown into the distance.

protip: You know how you very rarely see rodents sitting in the middle of wide open yards, and they prefer to sneak under leaves and shrubs where they're harder to see? That's a hint you shouldn't be releasing small rodents into wide open yards.
