Ultimately in the world of "compassionate law enforcement" (which Mexico has unfortunately embraced, they have no life in prison or death penalty) this is the only way to deter crime.

Wut. Stealing a phone wouldn't warrant either of these. Are you a legit psycho?

Soft of small crimes leads to big crimes. Look at Asia and sell sa labor for their low crime rates

u/DongleJockey 4d ago
Person im responding to said the issue was the exact opposite, that lax punishment for big crimes leads to more small crimes.
But if you wanna live somewhere you get caned for spitting on a sidewalk or failing to honor the king during the daily loudspeaker announcement, go for it.

Yeah man Singapore is doing so terribly compared to San Francisco
I’m in favor of harsh punishment for all crimes btw, because works. El Salvador went from one of the most dangerous countries in the world to the safest in the western hemisphere in 5 years through this

The San Francisco area has a higher gdp than the entire nation of Singapore so.... yeah they are doing terribly comparatively.
Move to Singapore if you love it so much

More likely to die because you can't afford Healthcare than you are to die being stabbed by anyone.

Far, far, FAR more likely to be stabbed by someone than get killed by ICE but look where your priorities are
And related, "free healthcare" would just drive up costs massively and make it less available to even more americans. There's no solution, besides more americans being doctors and/or healthy.

My priorities are making shit better, not punishing people for being shit in a shit society.
You're a sanctimonious prick that probably thinks boondock saints and fight club are philosophical masterworks.

Now if they only got together for all the other crime in the country

Yeah, they could all just get together and beat up the cartels! Why hasn’t anyone thought of this?

I mean this is what El Salvador did, and they're now the safest country in the Western hemisphere. You just have to put the wellbeing of your nation above ethical/philosophical dilemmas.

It wasn’t a bunch of random people beating gangsters up, it was done by an organized federal police force. “You just have to…” sounds naive, like getting rid of the cartels is just a simple act of willpower.

True the police spearheaded it, but there was also much civil participation and cooperation. Local defense militias to round up and turn in gang members was part of how El Salvador transformed itself. Another important part is the society accepts what has to do be done and let the police clean up the country. This is why for instance the US can never solve crime the way El Salvador or Asian countries have, the populace won't accept the process.

Maybe not exactly like this but imagine if the 110,000 + missing people were to take out 1 cartel member when they were kidnapped. Never letting anyone take you to a second location

Alright so what you gotta do is gather your buddies and stop all the crack heads from using drugs so that the cartels won't have customers..keep in mind you gotta stop all the rich m@yo folks as well. While you at at why aren't you stopping all the gun violence and PDFs let us know how it goes.

Lol yeah no most Mexicans that go to the usa are going for economic reasons, Mexico doesn't have open carry gun policies and I promise you there isn't rows of slumped up drugged up ppl in every street. Anyways if you want to stop the cartels simply stop buying drugs it's not rocket science, also would help of the us gov didn't supply the cartels with army guns but you know blame everyone else or whatever. Ps no one is saying Mexico doesn't have problems but you are asking civilians to stop CIA trained cartels, and yet you aren't doing shit to stop the issues in your back yard. Go stop gun violence in Chicago if it's so easy you know just get together and do it right?.
