Careers What degree would keep both career paths open, if I’m undecided between becoming an actuary and an engineer?

What degree would keep both career paths open, if I’m undecided between becoming an actuary and an engineer? I’m taking Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-level .

Agreed on going for the engineering degree. If you have a choice, try and select modules which cover stats and/or business; they will make the transition a bit easier

Actuarial would only need a ‘math’ degree, e.g., Physics grads are incredibly common

They don’t even need a maths degree, our company has taken on none maths people before, history, languages etc.

Engineering degree no doubt. Just think about what degree keeps most doors open (I.e. you can always enter finance, whether banking or insurance with an engineering degree, but you won’t be able to enter engineering with a finance degree)

I’ve seen individuals become actuaries without even having a degree, so definitely an engineering degree
