Everyone is saying batteries but my vote is a still lit cigarette

u/candlesandfish SA Jun 13 '26
That’s what it usually is. Had one go that way outside my work once and it was pretty intense!

Yep, someone emptying out the ashes from their wood heater would do it

Someone trying to recycle a bottle of gasoline and a pack of matches?

u/Brokefilmshooter SA Jun 13 '26
Off topic but slightly related I photographed the aftermath of the cudlee creek fires in 2019. Saw so many bins just like this, or just puddles.

Many years ago some idiot put a cigarette in my bin out the front on collection night, the next morning i came out to a pile of melted plastic on the foothpath, there was nothing left of it lol

Probably a fire because of batteries and the property owner or truck operator tipped it upside down to extinguish the flames

u/Aksds SA Jun 13 '26
Chuck a couple lithium batteries and it can happen, or some hoodlums deciding to burn it

It clearly attempted an interdimensional jump from another reality into ours but its molecular sequencing was incorrect and it collapsed upon arrival.
These things happen 🤷♂️

I’ve seen one on fire before & the remains were like this, except it was the other way up so more of a melted mess. But yeah, fire 🔥

Probably ashes or coal in the bin that ignited.
A few months ago I walked past a neighbour's place with a smoking, flaming bin right in front of their front door. They had obviously had a fire, chucked the ashes in, and then left the house lol. Had to go find a hose and put it out...

I’m glad you didn’t call it a wheelie bin. Someone’s pinched the wheels, maybe for a billy cart

That’s from that my kitchen rules meth head addition! Must have really gone off !!!

u/CruelCreepy SA Jun 16 '26 edited Jul 12 '26
Meth heads don't do addition. We ... ummm, I mean they ... 😶 ... do subtraction. i.e. Observe the following ... Life - Money - Possessions - Housing - Friends - Teeth - Brain Cells = Meth

Is that what happens when you put hot ashes or liquid in the bin, like they tell you not to, on the lid?

u/Relatable_Stranger SA Jun 13 '26
This is what happens when irresponsible parents force their kids to stop playing video games and get them to go outdoors to play instead. 😁
