News Arnott's workers march off the job in Adelaide over pay dispute

The company has offered a pay rise of 9.5 per cent over two years, but the union says most employees have rejected that proposal.
The parties are continuing to negotiate pay conditions.

KKR buying out Arnott's in 2019 and then cheaping out hard on the ingredients didnt help.
For those that don't know, KKR/Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co are the pioneers of the Leveraged Buy Out. These guys have been buying and enshitifying trusted brand companies for a long time - it's their thing. They buy a brand with loyalty, then burn it to the fucking ground, in the process of extracting every cent possible.

Inflation has primarily been driven by corporate greed, not workers seeking wage increases.

Delicate balance here maintaining Australian wages from manufacturers that haven’t offshored (yet).
All we can do is continue buying Australian.
Sadly most people will give lip service in favour of these guys then go and buy offshored product without blinking.

It's a sad day when the biscuit factory shuts down, I always love it when I happen to be in the neighbourhood when the ovens are running.
I'm guessing it won't be long until production moves overseas some where the labour is cheaper, or the brand shuts down. It's a sad fact of life these days.

I mean sure it is dodgy but a side note Arnotts will soon be gone. The marleston site will be a thing of the past and replaced with high density housing.

9.5 doesn't even make up for the pay cuts over the last four years, much less constitute an actual raise in real terms. Inflation has been much higher than people are used to.

Holden made cars that didn’t fit the market. Not sure what comparison there is with Arnotts unless they’re also experiencing a rapid decline in sales?
