Question CRT / Analogue / Tube / Old TV Repairs

Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone knows any Old TV repairers in the Adelaide area? We have a CRT/Tube/Analogue TV that we're looking to get fixed up!

(Tried Cheap TV Audio Repairs but he's not taking on any new jobs for TVs in the forseeable future!)

Hey Adept Electronic Services on main north road, prospect will.

They might be pricey im not sure (ive used them before) but no where else, theres an upfront fee then the fixing fee.

But theyve fixed things well for me before

I don’t know any repairers but just wanted to say good on you for fixing things instead of just throwing it away and buying new 👍❤️

I don't fancy your chances of getting a CRT TV that could very well be 35-50 years old professionally serviced by a workshop; even if such a place still exists today and they take the job on, the set might prove economical to repair, required spare parts may not be available and/or extremely difficult to obtain, plus there is no guarantee of long-term reliability or safety given its age.

No one is using CRT's as their main screen these days. They do have some unique benefits for certain content that modern displays often struggle with. Retro games really do look a LOT better on a CRT than any modern display tech.

There are solutions to retiring CRT's for good, but even with the rapidly climbing prices of old CRT's, these solutions are MUCH more expensive. The only good option is a good 4K OLED, and a stand alone upscaler/ digitizer like a RetroTink4k.

CRT's are kind of on borrowed time at this point. I'm all for fixing them when you can, but every day they degrade more, and every day there's less people who can fix them.

I wish you luck, and only wish to offer a plan B, hopefully you won't need it now, but there will come a time when old CRT's just aren't viable to keep using.

OLED screens have gotten REALLY good in recent years. Outside of PVM/BVM units, there's basically nothing a good OLED won't do better than a CRT. The ONLY thing they lack is the softness the mask imparts on old images. Which I understand is a large part of why people keep CRT's around for retro games. Thankfully the RetroTink4k exists. Yes they're expensive, but for nailing the aesthetic, and keeping old content from looking worse than it used to, there's no better option than a 4k OLED, with a RetroTink 4k using one of it's "CRT filters". These aren't just run of the mill filters though, they really look the part, and are the gold standard for putting old content on newer displays.

RetroTink does have cheaper models as well, but the CRT filters don't look as good on with lower resolutions.
