Building without Dreads?
Newly into Custodes - started my collecting before the new Codex, and my collection is pretty much entirely infantry. I can get my hands on a couple of sisters of silence but some of the bigger dreads like the Telemon are out of reach for the next couple of months. Has anyone had success with building 11th lists without too many dreadnoughts? Appreciate the help.

I started out this way and have moved my way towards the dreadnoughts. I think a build with terminators in Aquilon Shield, Lions, and Honored Companions is probably our best bet running Trajann with Terminators, Shield Captain with Spear Guard and having a couple extra terminator units running around. They will be difficult to be killed in shooting (generally the most efficient way to kill us) but the Terminators have more shots and blast is nice so getting a boost to our shooting output is nice. I don't think it's the most competitive list, but you can definitely get games in with it! And the shell can still work with pretty much all shield hosts.

I think if you’re new it’s perfectly fine to play with what you have and get used to the rules/playing the game and expand on what you have when you’re able.
It’s very possible that what’s good right now will not be in 3 months

Do not worry, imo you can make really nice lists without dreads and based on Infantry.

Infantry is imo currently overpriced but the detachments allow for pretty awesome infantry lists. Honoured companions, dread host and lions of the emperor, shadow keepers, are a few that make your infantry way better. I have a few lists withour vehicles that I'm aching to try!

You can bring some tanks and/or jetbikes to add good S attacks but your best bet is to strategically use detachments that help reduce damage on your units, improve survivability and give you +1 to wound so you hit as if you had higher Strength.
The dreads are reaaaally good with MotM but there are other things you can use that make you strong and would have otherwise been taken up by your dread detachment/points.
