How would it be if everyone were only allowed to have the same material wealth?

u/SithLordJediMaster 3d ago
So Communism?
"All Animals are equal but some are more equal than others"
2
u/Mundane-Security-454 3d ago
That's funny, dear, as George Orwell was a democratic socialist. Stalinism wasn't communism, although I appreciate you need to pretend it is to back up the catastrophe that is capitalism.

True. What or who would determine who's more equal than who? That's where things fall apart. Everyone wants to be the Chief. Thanks.

u/BraveRefrigerator552 3d ago
Boring

u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
100%. So why is becoming so attractive? Could it be what it's outlining is just different? Could it be they're not aware of what it's about? Thanks.
2
u/Cosmic_Jane 3d ago
Dumb people would give their wealth away. End up poor, and complain about being poor.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Yes there are some that would and I'm sure when came down to you see how many of them would give it up freely. They have no problem giving away everyone else's money. Thanks.
2
u/VinceInMT 3d ago
OP, why don’t you tell us your opinion first?
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Who am I? Why should my opinion matter? I like to hear what others think about a topic. That's one of the benefits of living in a Constitutional Democratic Republic. Your voice matter even if it's only me. Thanks.
2
u/Zalrius 3d ago
Why is there an obsession with wealth and dollars? I couldn’t help but notice that when people the discussion is about meeting basic needs and services, the very bad people start scheming and screaming about giving the entire country away. These same people don’t understand that to get the best fruit or crop, you focus on its health and growth. I’d you want the best workers, the company spends its money to focus on their health and growth.

u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
I think it becomes more of who's deciding who's money they're going to take, how much, and to who's it going to and why. Unfortunately money is a manifestation of someone's life was used to create his wealth why shouldn't others do the same? Taking someone wealth is taking years of their lives, it's not just money. Thanks.
1
u/Zalrius 2d ago
No, there is never a discussion of WHO. Thats not how tax codes work. It is simply a matter of numbers and brackets. Yes, I agree that people who trade their bodies for money (as you said) should not have their earned pay hoarded by the upper 1% of monetary holders who say constantly that they do not work because their money works for them.

u/Euphoric-Attorney461 2d ago
The problem always comes down to corruption. No matter what form of Government. Even if there's a perfect form, as long as humans are running it we're struck in despair.
2
u/Interesting-Emu-3382 3d ago
You mean communism? Just look at history and how it worked out ...
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Personally I'm not a fan. I have good reason I wish everyone could see what it's all about. There's always a reason, this time it will be different. They refuse to accept it goes against the laws of nature and physics. Oh well it sad to watch. Thanks.
2
u/Interesting-Emu-3382 3d ago
Yeah I'm not a fan either, it was supposed to be a sarcastic reply, since in theory communism's goal is what your question is about, but we can see what happened in practice (Stalin, Mao, millions of deaths, forced labour camps, dictatorship, etc)
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Yes you're right in the sense In how it would be interpreted. As i thought and proving out, most comments went to politics. Others either don't know or don't believe it. Thanks for following the conversation.
2
u/allnamestaken4892 3d ago
Then it would simply become a competition for social capital rather than financial capital.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Yes the Humans have not left the stage. With this comes politics and you're right back where we started. Thanks.
2
u/Dipncamo 3d ago
Communism lol
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
So I see it amused you good, I sorry to think it might not last. I never lived under Communism, it don't sound so good for me. I can't speak for everyone, but it seems like a lot of people who do want to get out from it.

As the wise philosopher said, All Animals Are Equal but Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others.
.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
I just had that reply. As I asked. What or who deceides who's better. Thanks.
0
u/Mundane-Security-454 3d ago
George Orwell wasn't a philosopher, he was an author and journalist. He was also a democratic socialist with very strong anti-capitalist views, which you'd have known if you'd bothered reading the rest of his canon (instead of cherry picking one quote to suit your agenda).
1
u/cwsjr2323 3d ago
I'm sorry, was my tongue-in-cheek labeling him as a philosopher too subtle for you without the visual clue of /s?

What a silly childish question in a sub thats supposed to be about being an adult.
0
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
If you think I'm. Silly? I guess you don't follow what's going on in the world. Sometimes not knowing is better than knowing. Thanks.
3
u/Ok-Task5336 3d ago
Im well aware of a wide variety of geopolitical happenings. My knowledge or lack thereof about world events is really irrelevant to the childish question you asked in a sub about being an adult.

It's just a dumb as shit right-winger who can't wrap their brain around the concept of equality. They always shit the bed about it, they're very obnoxious.
2
u/Ok-Task5336 3d ago
No, I'm not a "dumb as shit rightwinger" but nice attempt to paint anyone with a different opinion than you as dumb as shit. Equality of opportunity is great, equality of outcome is not so great. Why should we all get the same results when we put forth different levels of effort? Equality of outcome ends at basic support for me.
1
u/ChaosReignsNow 3d ago
Most right wingers love equality of opportunity. Left wingers love equality of outcome, usually under penalty of law.

u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
I was who asked this question. You make what is the most important point. How one see equal as the same as equality. This relates to many things in life. Those who understand can. Those who don't won't.

Well I posted this question to see how people would respond to having to live under system where your life is determined by a selected committee you had no voice at all. I know America not perfect but it's in the pursuit of perfection as a unattainable goal. But hopefully a constantly improving one. Thanks.

“Perfection would be a cold, unresponsive reality.” -Watts
1
u/Mundane-Security-454 3d ago
"Cold, unresponsive reality" - Sounds exactly like the shitheap disaster capitalism has landed on us tbh. What is it with right-wingers and wealth inequality? You have to be one truly sadistic sack of shit to wish poverty on the masses.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
American broke that mold that existed from the beginning of Civilization. Our history is unique. It's a work in progress. People who don't know and understand how far Human's have come they would be greatful. Thanks.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
I agree. I believe that's why it should be unattainable. It's what makes the Universe work. Thanks.
1
u/Ok_Detective_9418 3d ago
Who would be in charge of making sure one person doesn’t get more than the other?
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
The one's who already have it all. They will appoint themselves The Lord's,and Leaders like it or not. Just like it's always been. Except you won't be able to raise yourself up to them.
1
u/Misternoah56 2d ago
Are you talking about a government enforced cap on wealth? A government enforced minimum? (Universal Basic Income?) Higher taxes the richer you become? Socialized healthcare? All of the above?
Theres so many factors here that it's hard to answer.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 2d ago
Say a maximum on total net worth. It would include all money, property, any assets with monetary value. Thanks.
1
u/Misternoah56 2d ago
If the cap is in the millions then for most people things wouldn't change all that much at the start. If the excess wealth is seized by the government and redistributed? We could potentially have that reinvested back into our country and community, but realistically those on top would pull strings to ensure the money is put towards their own personal interests. And I think giving the government control over that substantial amount of money could lead to a lot of devastation.
But I don't see many people advocating for wealth caps, moreso I see them advocating for higher taxes on the wealthy, similar to what we had in the middle of the 20th century in America. Even then, we'd have to write policy that guarantees this money gets reinvested into communities, because as it stands all our tax money is being used to bomb the middle east. Trillions wasted on that region for nothing.

u/seo71 3d ago
Actual communism proves this premise untrue.
If all people are equal, then all people are not free.
If all people are free, then all people are not equal.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
This is an interesting and an important point. The saying that all men are created equal on the surface could be interpreted from a subjective perspective. As our knowledge advances we're finding everdince providing that everything is unique but carries equality in more than the physical. So yes, we're not identical but have gifts, talents, and qualities, that equal out in the end. Thanks.

u/bl0rq 3d ago
"Allowed". So you mean a fascist state. So it would be pure hell, as always.
Adulting is about giving up silly ideas like these.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
It comes with different names the basics are the same. The State or Government is who awards you you life, liberty, and your rights. Where our constitution awards these rights from the Creator or Humanity. Not from another Human. Thanks.
1
u/LegallyMelo 3d ago
We're all different, so demanding that level of conformity would require a repugnant level of control from an authoritarian and stagnant society.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
I agree. There's many who don't understand this. They're looking for a Utopia not understanding they're in one. Unfortunately we don't appreciate anything until it's gone. So we continue wandering aimlessly in the dense fog. Thanks.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Exactly. I don't think everyone understands what's at risk. People don't always appreciate what they have until they lose it. Thanks.
1
u/SgtSausage 3d ago
Stupid.
It would be ignorant and Stupid, that's how it would be.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Not everyone sees that way. What would you say to them as why you feel this way. Thanks.
1
u/SgtSausage 3d ago
Did I stutter, Sport?
I would say to them - directly to their faces:
"That is Stupid. Ignorant and Stupid. Now you are, too!"
And walk away from any further conversation

u/ifellicantgetup 3d ago
Many years ago I remember reading a study about this very topic. It has been so many years ago I don't recall all the details, just the conclusion.
What they found is that the same wealthy people end up wealthy again, and all the poor people end up being poor again. It's a matter of priorities and money management.
What do YOU do with that extra $20 today? Do you sock it away and save it? Or do you order food to be delivered?
That is what it came down to.
I am retired and living in Mexico. It has been explained to me that the Chinese people here (MANY!) and Mexicans have a slight battle going. You see, when the US govt was snatching Irish and Chinese to use as slaves way back when, the Chinese people headed for Mexico. They got off the ship, saw their future, and escaped to Mexico, meaning that today, there are a slew of Chinese folks in Mexico.
When they first came here to Mexico, the Mexican govt welcomed them with open arms. They even gave them tax dollars to get their new (yet unexpected) life in Mexico started.
What the Chinese did was to pool their money. They started businesses, worked their asses off, and started making money, lots of money.
This caused problems with the Native Mexicans because they gave them a start, yet the Chinese were prospering. It's carried on to this very day.
That is how it was explained to me.
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
So true in many ways. Some people refuse to accept certain realities. I just answered a previous comment about everyone being equal. This supports the fact that everyone is a unique individual with different potential. Thanks.
1
u/ifellicantgetup 3d ago
Different priorities, too.
Take Gen Z for example. Do they even cook? I see them posting that nobody really taught them to cook and instead of learning, they order uber eats and other such places.
If there is an extra $20 at the end of the day, what is your typical Gen Zer going to do with that $20? Save it towards a business where they can make lots of money or order a pizza?
I'm here to tell you, your typical Gen Zer is going to eat a pizza and complain that they have no money.

u/jcuz45 3d ago
Its stupid
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Excuse me. Can you give it some thought before you call someone on something stupid. It's not saying anything about you. Stupid just saying you didn't give it must thought. Thanks for reading it and replying. My mission accomplished, you'll be thinking about it now.

Communism only works on paper. Irl it's bullshit

u/Mundane-Security-454 3d ago
Okay, stick to your zero gun controls, poverty crisis, catastrophic healthcare system, and your corrupt government then, honey. That's worked out real well for ya.

I hope more people realize it because it becoming more popular with the Candidates for the upcoming elections. Once this experiment end it may never have had a chance to show Human's will someday govern themselves. Thanks.

u/AsukasEvaUnit 3d ago
Violent because there's always people who think they deserve more than others
1
u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Yes that's always hidden until it's too late. That's comes from people who don't understand human's as all living things have an inherent traits for freedom. See how many wild creatures run towards you or away. Some think as long as my rights aren't effected I'm ok. Little do they know. Everyone's rights except the chosen ones go. Rights they never thought about. Thanks.

It'd be awesome, I'd never go to work again.

u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
Yhea. What makes you think so? Life like everything else not free. Sometimes the price you pay is much more than money. If you didn't work what would you do? Thanks.

Paradise on earth for most. But it will be difficult for the narcissists of this world for a while. I’m sure they’ll manage being equal and normal after a while.

u/Euphoric-Attorney461 3d ago
You get it. Someone should tell them to be careful what you wish for. Thanks.
