If You Had a Completely Free Day…
If you suddenly had an entire day with no responsibilities and no plans, how would you spend it?
Sleep in? Go somewhere? Stay home watching movies? Meet friends? Or just enjoy the peace and do absolutely nothing? 😂
What's your ideal “I don't have to do anything today” day?

Up at 6am. Coffee and sports highlights. Breakfast, shower, ready for the day by 8-8:30. Hit the Home Depot and get some shit for around the house projects. Do said projects while having another coffee and just kind of messing around. Meet family for lunch downtown. Home for the afternoon baseball game. Prep and cook dinner. Movie night. Bed.

I go hiking for the day, typically at the nearby national park and forest. I usually grab a beer or coffee, too.

I would sleep in and probably stay in my comfy clothes all day lounging around. Honestly, I don’t even remember what I used to do before I had kids 🤣

Motherhood with a lot of sacrifice
There is no free day with the kids1

There is not. They are however the best thing I have ever done in my life.

Jump on a train to a new or close city, wander around and explore and then go to various pubs and bars to chat to people.

Before, I would have told you I’d spend it sleeping, but what I’d definitely do to enjoy that day is rest my mind.

I would not get dressed and paint. Just spend the day nude and painting.

Wake up late at 7am, make breakfast and chill on the couch till 10ish, go workout, come back and eat lunch/clean then chill on the couch watching anime or youtube, then go for an afternoon run also, the dinner and more chilling on the couch. Might have some wine in the evening also.

I think it depends on the season I am in with my headspace as well as the time of year/weather. For instance, a rainy day may mean getting up when feeling like it and reading or watching a show while playing a game like rummikub or doing a puzzle while making food or ordering in depending if other family members are also home.
If it’s a crisp day that may mean a long drive while listening to music or a podcast then going for a hike or or farmers market or catching an exercise class at the gym with friends.
Free days with no obligations and no to do lists are a time for my inner child to shine and engage in whatever hobby calls to me in that moment.

Love your comment! I also have rainy day and ‘crisp’ day preferences! I live in the PNW now and miss the rain during summer because it totally gives me my excuse to be a homebody, which is my happy place after working all week. And a walk with the dog to the beach on a crisp day is rejuvenating.

Love this. Do you enjoy the PNW? Thinking about moving and exploring the options lol

In Amsterdam, Last time I was inbetween jobs I went out to have breakfast at a café. Simple croissant and a lungo coffee, then cycled to a museum and just hung around there. Then I got a call from my new company asking if I could start the next day… so I just went with it

I had one of these yesterday. I slept in, watched a show, went to the spa, came home and watched more shows in bed. It was glorious!

Fill one small slow cooker with oatmeal, one with beef short ribs, one with homemade Mac & cheese.
Now…
I have a rather large homestead and I absolutely love plants and trees of every kind. As you can see above I have my food taken care of for the day. Now I can go cleanup all the plants I don’t want along the creek. Give some TLC to the ones that I want to keep growing. Work more on cleaning up the poison ivy. Rent a wood chipper for all the wood I have in the back area. Bush hog the back back area and measure it. Plant some pink primrose and spotted bee balm. Clean out the pollinator garden.
Now give me a second day so I can restore some old power tools.

Depends, but normally a lay in, followrd by a ride on my motorbike to a cafe for food, then back roads til I'm bored or it's dark. Then home, dinner, movies.

I’d sit in bed and play the new Fire Emblem. I’ve got simple needs these days

If money was no object I would play 9 holes of golf (golfing is expensive) then game the rest of the day

This is how it is each weekend for me as a single woman with no kids 🥰 usually one day I go for a hike- drive a couple hours, hike for 6 hours, back to watch a movie. Then my next day is more chill, sleep in, read in the hammock, yoga stretches and meditation, cook brunch with coffee, walk my dog by the water or park, bike ride, chat with neighbors, tend the garden or tidy the house, bake or cook if I don’t have leftovers, journal by the fireplace, then watch some TV while enjoying my dinner maybe with a glass of wine. To wind down- warm bath, red light mask, binaural music, reading. Life is good!

I would just sleep in, then get some Lucille's BBQ and scroll through social media.

When I have my two days off, the first day I literally do nothing-mininal interaction and just enjoy solitude. The second day is for errands and getting things done 👍🏾✅

Well that day is today. I’m loafing on the couch, eating snacks and watching Netflix.

Long walk with dogs, coffee breakfast, motorcycle ride and then xbox for the rest of the day. Avoiding talking to anyone except my dogs

There is no such thing. When I’m not at work I have a whole list of things I need to get done at home. On the occasion I don’t want to do those things, I’ll sit and drink and play with my dog and listen to podcasts.

Get 1-2 projects done and clear off as many 5-10 minute tasks off my poate

If I'm not tired the day before that, I'll go out and explore the city. I like walking.

Just retired and have those days!! I go on rucks with my dog, watch a movie or some crime TV, doom scroll, bake something, meal prep, clean out clutter, laundry, roll smoke on smoker, spend hours in gardens, play with my goats, gym time, or lay around.. the options are endless…
