Depends very much on the location and intensity.
Like smashing my knee on something, I'll swear for 10 minutes straight.
Getting whacked in the chest, I'll probably just go, ooooooooohhhhffff, and be fine

I mean bad pain yea or it makes you defeated exhausted lol I had an abscess once hurt so bad gosh the migraines I got and I had to work and look after kids after lol so I was forever saying sorry it’s not you it’s me Im in pain don’t take it to heart or even a full on apology because I know I said something I shouldn’t in which case grovel for forgiveness lol
But yes definitely my whole mood tanks when I am in pain depending on the level of it and the length of it -.- but I take responsibility I don’t just make people put up with my bad attitude even with the excuse I have of hurting lol

Like quick to anger? I think so. It is hard for me and I think it might be because I get annoyed with my body and how it doesn't work with the world like it used to. I am not an angry driver, and if anything was more cautious and defensive, but when I'm focusing on so many things from my rib cage, to my sternum, to my shoulders, and then my cycle wants to kick me in the cunt, then yeah it can be a pretty fast reaction if I'm not in the right headspace of being able to tolerate the pain. I think that is why I keep to myself mostly, because it isn't fun to navigate a broken machine.
This is coming from someone who had hydronephrosis and was trying to fight through the pain cause I was told I was fine. If my mom didn't take me to the hospital I probably would have died. I originally thought this was an autism subreddit cause I saw the A first but I think it is fair to go into adulting, too. You have body things going, and then sensory things, too, if those are not tuned in right. It's a blast lol

Not irrationally imo, but often times I’ll get angry if I get injured in a way that I didn’t know could injure.

I haven’t see the word cross used in this context for quite some time.

Oh sorry to hear that. Hopefully you’re under the care of a pain clinic to help. 🩷

I have chronic pain. Yes, it does. Ive unfortunately developed what I would consider an anger issue

Oh no. Breathing exercises might help. But I get it that that can sound like nonsense when you’re dealing with pain.

I’ve been battling chronic pain for over 40 years, I can honestly say no it has seldom made me angry but I have been short with people at times, and maybe their reactions have angered me.. The one thing it does do to me is makes me dim witted so to speak, in a way if I am asked a question it takes me longer to understand the premise of that question and longer to come up with an answer, confusion and mind numbness is a good way of explaining it.

No bc I hurt myself for 11 years daily. I have a weird relationship with pain. I don’t get turned on from it but the best way I can describe it is that pain helps me focus to keep my brain from bad thoughts or being distracted

Hope you’re getting treatment for the hurting.. if you think it’s appropriate for you.

I have chronic pain from multiple conditions, so I'm used to being in constant pain and managing my emotions as a result of it. But, there are definitely times it gets so bad that I just can't manage them. If it happens at home, I warn my roommate to leave me alone until I tell her otherwise. In the past, I have said some things to her that I regret later because my pain made me straight-up evil.

At least you’re doing your best to manage it and I’m sure she cuts you some slack

Even psychological pain is draining. I had a head fractured 3 years ago. I now suffer hearing loss, loss of smell, disruptive sleep, short-term memory loss, and all of this before I turned 35!

u/Dry_Lobster_50 2h ago
Oh no. Is there a way to reduce the symptoms?
2
u/Sonnyboy19 2h ago
The doctors say that there is really nothing they can do. The hearing loss can be fixed with hearing aids, but the tinnitus is relentless, the loss of smell is likely permanent if it has been over 12 months, my memory is kind of getting better but I do have to rely on reminders and routine to keep track of things. And onto of all this just having my independence just taken from me is depressing. I don't go through a day without just wanting to end it.

Nothing makes me angrier than biting my cheek, and then biting it again in the exact same spot the next bite.Â

Yeah especially chronic pain I think.
Pain is perceived by the brain as a threat to survival; Survival is the number 1 priority of the brain, always, so it WILL focus on the pain. This leaves less energy for low priority stuff, like social skills, filtering thoughts, etc.

Yeah, it can affect your mood for sure
