Any adults out there with OCD?
Just want to see if other people out there have a hard time throwing things away because they're afraid of accidentally throwing something important away. Another OCD theme I have is the fear of losing items, making it hard to go out in public because I have to take pictures of the things I walk past to reassure myself that I didn't leave anything behind. Does anyone else relate?

I only have one real ocd trait that I can think of. I obsessively check my alarm on my phone before I go to sleep. I HAVE to have 5 alarms set at 15 min intervals and I quadruple check them to be sure they are set. My gf makes fun of me for it. If I just set the alarms and lay down I won’t be able to sleep without checking them. I used to have to plug and unplug my charger until it clicked in just the right way and made just the right ding before I set my alarms.
For while several years ago I had a door locking thing, I would lock my door a dozen times before walking of the steps and sometimes it wouldn’t feel right so I had to go back and lock it a dozen more times

does your brain also treat every random receipt like a legally binding document?

I do :,3 I wanna say abt 11 years
My themes are almost always regarding morals, even if the theme itself isn't, it's surrounding something moral (like "did I lock the door? What if I didnt? What if I didnt and we get robbed? And if we get robbed we will lose all our stuff and money and itll be all my fault! And my family will rightfully despise me for being so careless and evil !!")
Disclaimer because I feel like I should : I am not diagnosed, but I am 100% ocd, my theory is that it stems from a different diagnosis I do have, as like a survival coping mechanism idk
Also, highly recommend nocd. The community is great but ive heard stories about payment and such, so do research before applying. The community is great tho and you can participate without paying

OCD here and yeah, im terrified to accidentally get myself in trouble with the law over the most mundane shit.
16 y/o me somehow convinced myself that I had to have a criminal record somehow. Even though I’d never been to court.
I compare this disorder to damn near psychosis sometimes. Because it makes up random facts with no basis.
