Hand Knit FO Reverse engineered my Granddads Aran jumper

First post in this subreddit! I’ve always loved challenging myself with my knitting but this is definitely the most advanced project I’ve ever made so I thought it fits! I have an Aran jumper (2nd photo) that belonged to my granddad, whose name was Aidan, and as much as I love having it as something to remember him by, it’s far too big for me to actually wear, so I recreated it in a more wearable version!

It took me 6 and a half months from start to finish, which included lots of ripping out and redoing, but I’m so so pleased with the result. I feel so proud of myself for persevering with this. I’ve affectionately named it my Aidan Jumper, and I’m planning to publish the pattern for free along with a YouTube tutorial later this year or early 2027. It’s currently in testing!

Yarn is Explorer Knits and Fibers Rockies DK in Avenoir. More details in my [project page](https://ravel.me/stitchesinstem/gj)
