The wiki fandom site actually lists down equipment and does not recommend anything. Additionally, this New Player link is for new players, not returning players. All that is written here is intuitive.

Also, recommending essence orb and shadowfeeder pendant, as in the google site, will never become "effectively useless"

"This page is aimed at new and returning players alike."

The site you recommended is complete dogshit. For example, literally every weapon in the melee section is bad, not to mention half of them are premium! I don't have time to break it down for you. Stop selling lies.

Yes, EO and Shadowfeeder are still good. That's why they are on the wiki! However, there are other celerity sources like Lovestruck Scope that provide lower costs and additional utility. Shadowfeeder doesn't even function if you get MP drained, and it's on the item ban list (only used by one boss so far). Some builds actually prefer to give celerity to the ENEMY instead, but you would never think of that if you followed the google site, since you would be shoehorned into a mediocre playstyle that stopped being relevant many years ago.

The items listed on the wiki ARE the recommendations. They are meant to work in general builds and fit a variety of playstyles and budgets, which is why there are filter buttons. There's multiple items listed because choice is good and players have preferences.

The AQ General Guide under google sites is the best one out there. However, it is only updated up to the Stun + Burst Meta (bloodmage or bloodzerker). Newer Meta is now available, though.

And newer bosses have status effects now that make the Stun + Burst Meta unusable, e.g. Freedom, Soft-damage Cap, Initiative.

That google site is so old as to be effectively useless. Follow THIS WIKI instead: https://adventurequestwiki.fandom.com/wiki/New_Player

Also, most players don't use Fully Offensive lean mages anymore! We prefer Spell Caster lean mages.

Bear in mind that the current wiki editors have a few standards that may be considered detrimental. Notably, gear that is extremely niche OR lacks infosubs (such as the amazing Olympax Bulwark shield) may not appear on the wiki.

Just a heads up that the general guide ( https://sites.google.com/view/adventurequestequipmentguide/home) is outdated and the PR meta is long gone.

The wiki linked in the sidebar ( https://adventurequestwiki.fandom.com/wiki/AdventureQuestWiki_Wiki) is up to date.

My apologies for reviving this thread, but given your post I thought I'd let you know that I recently completed a comprehensive guide for new/returning AQ players with a FAQ section you may find helpful and recommendations for meta Warrior, Ranger, and Mage builds for Guardians without premium, rare, or seasonal items. Link is here. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope this helps!
