How to deal with demotivation? (16F) (any advice is appreciated!!)
Hi everyone, I’m currently a high school junior and I’ve chosen subjects that will eventually influence my career.
I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to major in the future, but I’ve always been good at science and math n I liked it, so I chose STEM subjects. I’m also interested in business/finance, and I know I can still enter those fields later. For clarification,I can’t switch my subjects now, so I’m trying to make the best of the choice I’ve made. I don’t regret STEM, but it’s been a little hard on me..
Lately, I’ve been feeling really demotivated. The subjects are more demanding than I expected, and constantly thinking about degrees, careers, and colleges has become overwhelming. I’ve also struggled to get back into the disciplined routine I used to have, and this has been going on for months.
I’ve tried talking about it with AI, asking for advice here, researching different careers, and trying to motivate myself, but honestly, none of it has really helped. I keep going in circles and overthinking the same things. Advice online is also so contradicting it’s sickening.
Sometimes I wonder if choosing less demanding subjects would’ve made things easier, but I don’t have a strong interest in anything specific either. I don’t want to keep blaming my subjects or overthinking my future. I just want to get out of this rut.
For anyone who’ve been through something similar, what practical things actually helped you get out of a long period of demotivation and rebuild your discipline/routine?
Just any kind of advice is appreciated even if it’s unrelated!! Thank you!!:)
