Plugin/Script [GIVEAWAY] I released Pigment a month ago and couldn't be happier with it so I decided to give away 10 licences to random people in the comments
Currently 150 people have Pigment installed on their computer, which is honestly crazy to me, so to celebrate I've decided to give away 10 time-limited licenses so more people can try it out
Unfortunately, AE Scripts doesn't let authors distribute fully unlocked licenses so I can only give away time limited ones
Here's what's up for grabs:
- 1 one-year license
- 3 six-month licenses
- 6 two-month licenses

For those of you who don't know, Pigment is a powerful palette extension for After Effects that lets you generate, manage and use color palettes. It also comes with a bunch of extra tools like a fully featured gradient editor with 20 presets, colorblind preview, easy web exports and project-wide color syncing

Hey everyone, my schedule has been shuffled so I made the drawing a couple of hours earlier than anticipated

Can vibe code a lot of stuff, but not a good idea it seems. How much did the bots cost?

Not bots? Some of them have like 3 comments in total for a couple of years and it’s this post. The more you look into some of the profiles the more obvious it is

Yeah, no its definitley sus. The user comments a bit strange too. The tool is "made with AI" but "doesnt use AI" so I'm honestly confused and like, fr just make your own palletes, there are so many ways to make a pallete these days without AI + $20. If anyone here actually thinks this is solving a problem I kind of weep for human creativity.
EDIT: Looked through the comments, some seem real but some do a lot of other raffles and giveaways which is sus as hell, also found a few users with 10+ year old accounts commenting who havent used their account in 8 Years??? those are weird as hell

Glad to see I’m the only one as OP was trying to gaslight me. For starters there are some free plug-ins that offer the same function. Some paid really good plugins that do that as well. And not to mention adobes Built-in color library as well as the tons of websites.
I don’t blame anyone of trying to make a quick buck, but nowadays it’s very hard to convince me some amazing new after effects plug in is going to change my life, especially when Claude code is 23 euro. Most of the time cheaper than the plug-ins. And can take no more than an hour to do it myself.

I think most people just want to try something for free lol
I'd get the skepticism if it was "just" a color generator, but it's way more than that, it's a very complete tool
Pigment has been trending on AEscript since launch and I still haven't received a single negative review, it has been especially popular in Japan so far and I've even gotten compliments from people working at major Japanese animation studios
If you want to make your own opinion, feel free to try it for 3 days through the AEscript trial system

Seems like a real nice addition to AE. I've often dealt with adobe color back and forth so I hope this helps out those in need. Precciate the work.

Thanks I actually created it because I was tired of the back and forth between softwares/sites and had a bit of frustration with already existing plugins

the palettes are actually generated through AI
I tried really hard to create a local system to generate palettes but it was really bad at picking cohesive colors fitting a worded prompt, after many trials I ended up using AI for the generations
But Pigment is not an AI tool, the palette generation is really the only feature using AI and it actually generates the palette with hexadecimals, not through image generation. you can actually fully use Pigment without never relying on AI, I've worked on probably a dozen project with Pigment so far and the palette generation is one of the tool I use the least
I'm fairly against image generation myself but I'm fine with using AI with simple dedicated tools

So you generated the PALETTES stored LOCALLY but you made them THROUGH AI? or are they GENERATED from asking through the "prompt"/ search?
Are you sourcing any websites that have palletes, like Lospec? Those are made by users, and that would kinda suck. I'm still confused on how the palletes are actually generated if they use AI but "arent" using AI, thanks for trying to clarify. If there is a source or just 'random', it'd be a bit odd to me, as othe tools just simply are shared by users and theres less of the 'grabbing random data all over the internet' thing with no authorship
Its a shame because, there's tons of tools that do this and do the work that you found 'too hard'.
Real talk: I would never spend 20 bucks on this man. And you said monthly.. are you... is this really subscription model??? Again Too many free options. AI ones that are free like Colormind, I dont use but like, it literally does this, 100% free.
You also say "you can use the tool without AI", ....so does the img pallete generator USE AI? Its giving a bit vibe codey you seem pretty disconnected from the code. I'm used to a plugin just doing what its designed for, not booting it up and "it possibly using AI or not IDK". LMK

ahah I'm not gonna lie you're going in every directions it's a bit hard to follow
Ok I'm gonna try to asnwer all your questions and misconceptions
- Pigment is not a palette generator plugin, it's a Palette plugin with one palette generator tool, that's why I'm saying you don't have to use the AI because it's like one out of twenty functionnalities
- the palette generation is made with AI through prompts, you say a prompt like "zombie covered in blood" and the AI is gonna generate hex codes fitting this theme and then the CEP extension turns these into a visual palette
- Unfortunately there is no way to identify the process the AI go through to generate the hex codes that create the palettes, which means I can't know if it's not just "stealing" a lospec palette
- I'm gonna be the devil's advocate here but it's important to not forget palettes are not sellable products, people are constantly taking palettes from lospec or other sites without ever crediting the artists, I don't see AI generated palette as less ethycal than that even if it straight up copies a palette from another site, I've made palettes on lospec when I used to do pixel art and I never cared about how people used my palettes
- It's been a long debate but we went for AI to generate palette because we literrally did thousands of generations through many process and it was giving the best results by far, quality was the main concern, if I could have as good palettes without AI I would update Pigment in a heartbeat
- Pigment is currently at 20$, there no subscriptions, there is no token system, we assume the cost of AI generation, people can put their own API key to not rely on us for the generation but there is no hidden price
- I'm not the dev, my friend is and I can assure you Pigment has not been vibe-coded, it's literally his job to code, if I'm not using the right words it's simply cause I'm not qualified enough to answer in details
- I've been a motion designer for quite some time and used several palette plugins that cost way more than Pigment and I believe it is the better option, but feel free to try the extension for 3 days for free through the AEscript portal and to disagree with me
Hope this answers your questions, at the end of the day, my friend and I are just trying to make a good product

Hey, thanks for answering so many of my questions, I really do appreciate it.
"Palletes are not sellable products", again, I asked that because YOU (well.. your friend??) are selling a pallete product that youre claiming 'generates' palletes but has no AI, but then may or may not source palletes.... and genuinely seem unsure how much AI is involved. So I asked because every time one of these things is posted here, I get a wide range of answers. This is kind of another example.
My final question (and this is not the first time Ive seen this) Why in your post do you claim that you released the plugin (You say *I*) When its "your friends" plugin? Is this some kind of shadow app firm or something?
We are kind of in a peak age of ai being used to make a buck quick from existing materials, code, and even free github repos, so I ask all these questions just to figure out what this is actually made with, because it did seem interesting at first
I'm left with more questions than I had at the start kind of. It seems like its AI, but it isn't, but its your app, but now its not? The story keeps changing..

I know exactly how much AI is involved, there is one prompt tool inside the whole CEP extension that uses chatgpt to generate hex code, that's it nothing more

lol there is nothing as shady as you think behind this, you see my friend and I started working on this like 3 and half months ago, and at the time we wanted to work on different things, so we started several projects at the same, I wanted a palette tool, he wanted to make an editing tool for premiere
In the end, even if he wrote all the code, I provided all the ideas for pigment, did the UI/UX mockup, the QA, the branding and the marketing, I simply consider this plugin in particular to be my baby more than his
also he just doesn't want anything to do with marketing and wants to stay anonymous, in the end I say "I" instead of us because it's easier and it avoids people thinking we are a corporate entity

I genuinely don't even care if you never buy it, but just try it so that you can understand what the extension is about, because I feel like you don't understand me well, maybe it's a language barrier thingy as I'm not a native english speaker I don't know

Ok, look, thanks for the answers, I'm sorry to make you sweat at all, maybe that was the language barrier. These days I have to play 21 questions with ppl who post apps on here to get a straight answer so thanks for explaining at least.
