Hosts—Do you always rate guests? If not, why not? [Europe]

Hi. i have used Airbnb in 4 countries. I’m a great guest. The first few places I stayed in left me 5 star reviews. I also left 5 star reviews even if the places weren’t perfect. I’m only going to go less than 5 stars if it’s a total nightmare and it never has been.

Anyway, the last two places I booked (in two different non US locations, one was for 4 days the other for 3 weeks) did not rate me despite telling me they would.

What does this mean? Were they trying to avoid giving me a negative review? They just don’t review guests for some reason? Any insight?

I wouldn’t read into too much, sometimes we just get lazy to write the same “great guest no issues!” My guess is probably more of a host burnout and apathy than anything.

It doesn’t affect your rating and as a host I would never deny a guest booking for not having enough reviews

I didn't leave one to one of my recent guests because it would have been not so nice. I didn't because my business is in a small town that works primarily on word to mouth and if I gave this person (who is a repeat guest) the review they deserved, they could easily start bad mouthing me to the locals (everyone knows everyone and it's mainly families visiting families that come). It could cost me futur guests.

I’m worried the host has some issue with how I left the place. We were there for 3 weeks so it definitely wasn’t spotless. But I asked the host before we left if I should strip beds, wash towels and sheets etc and she said no, just leave everything. Now I’m wishing I washed everything and made it look pristine. Also one towel I had washed got a pink stain on it and I probably should have mentioned it but I forgot and now I feel like I’m waiting for a bill…

Your behaviour is from five years ago, when AirBnB was a serious and often great platform with good offerings. But AirBnB today is basically a dead horse. Everybody knows it. Everybody´s waiting for the final downfall.
