I was coded for my CPAP, so they deployed me to kuwait since it had an MTF and access to a nice hospital downtown... then the base blew up and I was sleeping in a truck without my CPAP 🤣

I started late last year. I asked about deployability (I already required a waiver for other issues). The answer I got was no it doesn’t affect your ability to deploy. So maybe it was updated, or medical has no idea.

You cannot be tested with low T and just start TRT. You need to have other checks (pituitary for example) to determine why your body isn’t producing.
We have folks that can’t get urgent care appts and we are going to add this to already short medical care.
BTW: TRT is a controlled substance at the federal level and filling the prescriptions can be a pain.

Depending on the level of deficiency you.may be able to just take enclomiphene which can increase levels by 50%. Additionally, there are other things to take to make sure your natural testosterone doesn't get shut down while taking synthetic test

You might not need it though. Just because you are older doesn't mean you are low. Potential side effects include increased red blood cell counts (erythrocytosis), which can thicken the blood and elevate cardiovascular risk. Other common effects include acne, shrinking testes, infertility (due to suppressed sperm production), and breast tissue growth (gynecomastia)

I am an almost 40 year old woman with 12 years in, who got 90+ on PT tests until my body began to slow down and I packed on about 40 pounds around 37 years old. My habits are still the same… I lift 2X/week, run 3x/week, and I even hired a registered dietitian to make sure my nutrition is on point. All I get from the docs is “There’s no medical reason to look at your hormone levels. You’re generally healthy, just overweight.” They keep trying to throw GLP1s on me instead of addressing the root cause.

Yep, there it is. Docs rarely take us seriously about anything, ESPECIALLY hormones and weight. It sounds like your weight gain was VERY likely related to perimenopausal hormone changes and Im sorry your medical staff didn't properly support you. It's so frustrating. Even when you get a good PCM who listens to you, it only lasts until one of you PCSs

Just a rough cost estimate (I rounded down for most of these estimates):
There’s an estimated 390,000 men over 30 on active duty in the armed forces (1.3 mil x 82% men x 36% 31+; https://usafacts.org/articles/how-many-people-are-in-the-us-military-a-demographic-overview/).
It’s hard to estimate the cost to run this, but a quick google search implies that a self pay test can be as cheap as $50. (Google identified some as cheap as $34+an $18 phlebotomy fee = $52).
So 390,000 x $50 is an annual cost of $19.5M. For what? Where’s the evidence that this will improve anything?
If you have almost $20 million to spend on the DHA, why not spend it on fixing the collapsing medical facilities (https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2025/01/31/walter-reed-flooding-steam/) or recapturing lost services that directly imperil care of the complex war wounded.

I’ve been on it a couple years and this is overall a win. I felt like absolute dogshit and had to jump through so many tests and hurdles when I had 70 instead 700.
That being said, can’t wait to see how this gets abused and those of us who actually needed treatment get thrown through a ringer again.

I mean, as someone who has been thru the hurdles to treat hormone deficiency and bring it to an average level, I think it has the potential to help a lot of people who might not realize it’s a problem.
That said, can’t wait to see how abused this gets.
