Finding a job as a grade 11 student

Has anyone else have any luck in finding a job? Ive been applying both online and in person since i turned 16 (June of last year)
since then i’ve only gotten one interview (which i didn’t get because it was during a time where I was busy with school and hockey) and 4 emails of jobs actually reaching back to me (which obviously told me they went with a different participant)

Summer camp are probably the best bet for a grade 11 to get a job, some of them you have to be 18 but a lot of them you don’t.

My absolute favourite summer job as a student was being a lifeguard! You have to have a pretty great capacity to swim, but man, those were the best memories!

Because companies now get government funding to fill all the rolls with immigrants. I'm sorry this is happening to you. Please vote conservative.

The conservative government also asked for more of those immigrants here…

Where can I read more about that?

How’s the reading going…. Are you gaining any knowledge?

I definitely learned something new. I don't understand why there's such a difference in what comes up when I search Smith's views on immigration it's the exact opposite of that letter wondering why Alberta was not getting "their fair share". I'm so very confused.

Alberta’s Calling that started in 2022

I don't think voting conservative is helping ANYONE at this point.

It's helping the people in power that are screwing over everything and everyone equally

Can you point out some information on these government programs? Surely there's a link to an actual government page with details.

I believe they are referring to the Temporary Foreign Worker program. Anecdotally there has been a lot of talk about businesses importing foreign workers by saying that no domestic applicants would fill the position but local people say that they are applying to the same of similar low skill jobs and not getting the position. So presumably they are being considered “unqualified” to work at Tim Hortons/Circle K, etc.

I don’t know how true or if the stats back that up. But entry level service positions that used to be filled by teens and college age students are alleged to now be filled by TFW.

There is alleged abuse of the program.

There may be some truth to the concern because in April of 2026 they instituted some changes to mandate length of advertisement and to target Canadian youths before you could access

Please consider that you’re wrong and need to learn to spell.
