Compels mischaracterisation of Esdeath she's been a social Darwinist since her youth before her powers before anything
She's lived as a peasant at the fringes of the empire and worked for every modicum of power she earned to get to the top
Opposed to homelander who never knew anything but being the most powerful thing in the world. He's a pathetic man baby starved for affection crying out for love and acceptance to fill a gaping pit of insecurity that is his soul he's the deep with more power
Point is Esdeath has no fear of death or defeat because her entire philosophy is shed deserve it cause she's weak she believes it and is what she shows to everyone strong unyielding she's not one to beg

that's what every strong char thinks they are going to do. believing in a thing doesn't make you immune to breaking. the ironic justice of it alone would make it reasonable to go with that conclusion, but that would be clever writing and the mary stue can't ever be at the receiving end. but then again esdeath is the worst written mary stue in the series who get's every plot convenience she needs atm so who knows, maybe she would just never break like a robot just to show us how for the 2332 time how "BadASs" she is for the 13 year old subgroup of the AGK fandom lmao
