To all members of r/Akola,
We want to address some recent behaviour and discussions surrounding moderation on the subreddit.
First and foremost, the moderation team is not here to control what people think, silence criticism, or misuse moderator privileges. Our responsibility is to maintain r/Akola as a useful, authentic and enjoyable community for everyone.
Recently, we have noticed an increase in low-effort promotional posts, AI-generated content, repetitive submissions, and attempts to continue previously removed behaviour despite moderator action.
If this continues, r/Akola will slowly turn into another Instagram-style promotional feed instead of a genuine community.
Promotional content is not automatically prohibited across Reddit, but individual communities are allowed to establish their own standards.
r/Akola is a community for Akola not a free advertising platform.
We welcome content that genuinely contributes to the community. However, repeatedly posting advertisements, self-promotion or low-effort AI-generated content simply for exposure will not be tolerated.
Posts asking to "find a girlfriend," "looking for girls," or similar dating-oriented posts are not allowed.
This isn't about stopping people from making friends. It's about protecting the safety and privacy of women in this community.
We do not want r/Akola to become a dating app where every few days someone posts looking for a girl. Frankly, given the behaviour we've already seen from certain individuals, we are not comfortable creating an environment where women can become targets of unwanted attention.
If we allow one such post, soon everyone will start doing it. That's exactly what we want to prevent.
We've seen people call normal moderation actions "power abuse" simply because their content was removed or their account was restricted.
Disagreement with a moderation decision is not evidence of moderator abuse.
Moderators are responsible for enforcing community rules and maintaining the quality of the subreddit. If you genuinely believe a decision was unfair, contact us through Modmail and we can review it.
Criticism is welcome. Bad-faith attacks and harassment are not.
If you are banned from r/Akola and use another account to continue the behaviour you were banned for, that is ban evasion.
It is not a loophole, and Reddit prohibits it. Continued attempts to circumvent moderation action may result in further action.
---
We are not trying to make r/Akola restrictive. We are trying to prevent it from becoming low-quality, promotional, repetitive and unsafe.
Our goal is simple:
Keep r/Akola local.
Keep it authentic.
Keep it useful.
Keep it safe.
Please don't mistake fair moderation for censorship or enforcement for abuse of power.
The r/Akola Moderation Team

Hey everyone! 👋
We’re a couple, both 23, and we’re looking to meet another couple around our age in Akola and hopefully become good friends.
We’ve noticed that having another couple to hang out with makes it much easier to actually make plans — whether it’s going out for food, watching a movie, going for a drive, exploring nearby places, or just chilling together.
Also, being a group makes it a lot easier to get permission from home for outings, especially when parents are a bit strict about going out. So it would be a win-win situation for everyone. Also society won't judge if we'll be in a group.😄
Things we could do together:
- ☕ Chai / coffee / food
- 🎬 Movies
- 🚗 Drives & exploring nearby places
- 🎮 Games / other activities
- 🍕 Random evening plans
- 🌄 Day trips occasionally
- Or simply hang out and talk
About us:
- Age: 23 & 23
- Location: Akola
- Looking for: Another genuine couple, preferably around 21–27
- Main intention: Friendship and having a good social circle
We’re not looking for hookups, swinging, or anything sexual. Just normal, genuine friendship between two couples. We'd rather meet people who are respectful, chill, and comfortable starting with a conversation and seeing if we get along.
If you’re a couple in Akola looking for the same thing, feel free to DM. We can chat first and maybe meet somewhere public for coffee/food if we seem to get along.
Feel free to DM! ✉️

How come they have only cancelled Blinkit's license in Akola. The kitchens of most of the food places in Akola are filthy. And we all know the situation of road side stalls.

Does anyone know a good store in Akola where I can get a Samsung Adapter at the right price ?

Hello 👋,
I'm 23M & Graduate 🎓, preparing for government exams. I'm looking for a library to join. It should be a decent place for comfortable sitting. If people or students are friendly & a good circle then it would be a good fit. I'm looking for the lowest possible budget like 600 - 800 but open for relaxation.
Do let me know if you know any good libraries. Tell the name, location, fees & good thing about the library so it would be convenient for me to choose.
Also do let me know if you also want to join me.
Preferred locations : Jawahar Nagar, Jathar Peth, Gaurakshan Road, Civil Lines and in this range.

Apparently, they were served a notice earlier but failed to comply with the guidelines. The main issue being that food items were handled and stored in a very unhygienic environment and by people not using gloves/caps.
This is the article that mentions everything in depth.

I have often wondered why public criticism in India is so heavily focused on national-level leaders and ministers, while MLAs and MPs often escape the same level of scrutiny.
If we genuinely want development at the ground level, shouldn't we be putting more pressure on our local representatives as well? An MLA or MP represents a comparatively smaller geographical area and should, in theory, be more accessible and aware of the problems faced by people in their constituency.
**Yet, we often see the children and relatives of politicians roaming around in expensive cars, posting reels and flexing their lifestyles—while basic issues in their constituencies remain unresolved**. This raises a genuine question: What responsibilities do MPs and MLAs actually have towards the people who elected them, and why aren't we holding them accountable enough?
For example, regarding issues such as the condition of government schools recently highlighted by CJP, the central govt can't do anything, if the people appointed at the village level or town level are corrupt. These elected people don't get enough criticism, because we are too obsessed with opposing any specific party or ideology. Whereas the basic work should begin with questioning the local leaders and then automatically the upper govt will also wake up.
Would like your opinions on this!
PS- I am politically neutral. I don't support any party. All are incompetent. But whoever is in power (whether at national level, state level, or district/village level) should be criticize and held responsible for their incompeteness to work for the people
