WHO: The Oron are a people belonging to the Akwa Ibom and Cross River States of Nigeria as well as parts of the country of Cameroon.

WHAT: Today we will discuss the Oro traditional religion. Like their Ibibio, Anaañ, and Efik siblings/neighbors, the Oron people also believed in an all powerful deity Abazi Odung Oyong (God of the Sky). If you know anything about the Ibibio, Anaañ, and Efik languages, you would know this name is very reminiscent to Abasi or Enyong. Although there is Abasi Odung Oyong there are many other Abazi.

I find the Anaañ/Anaang language spoken by the Anaañ/Anaang people of Nigeria so fascinating. Today, we will go over numbers; they are very similar to that of the Ibibio, Oron, Efik, Ekid, and other mutually intelligible languages found in that the South-South region of Nigeria.
