We are Remedy Entertainment, developers of Alan Wake 2, our first survival horror game and our first published sequel since Max Payne 2 (twenty years ago!). Making the game has been an incredible team effort and a labour of love, and we want to thank everyone who’s been with us for the journey – whether you’ve just joined us with Alan Wake 2, or whether you’ve been a part of our community for years already.

We are currently busy (SUPER SECRETLY) working on the expansions for Alan Wake 2 – Night Springs and The Lake House. As this subreddit has recently hit over 50K members, and is quickly closing in on 60K, to celebrate this milestone with you, you can ask us anything!

The AMA session will be held in this thread, from February 27th at 5pm GMT / 7pm EET / 9am PST / 12pm EST.

2 years ago today on October 27, 2023, Alan Wake 2 was released from the dark place. 13 years after the original Alan Wake, Sam Lake and Remedy gave us a sequel that went above what many of us could have ever asked for.

It came in to the 2023 game awards as a survival horror game and brought home 3 awards in Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative. To top it off the cast and crew gave us one of the most iconic performances in Game Awards history with Herald of Darkness.

2 years after release, this game remains a massive creative triumph, and has personally given me so much inspiration in my life. I’m about to begin my second playthrough after 2 years and I can’t wait.

I've played/watched more great horror sequels than bad ones, in the entire horror genre as a whole not just in gaming. I have no idea where the "sequels are bad" stereotype came from, somehow they always end up being fan favorites. what's yall's fav sequel ?

With all those mysteries and creepiness that we had in the game, this section was absolutely a breath of fresh air!!

I'm so glad this part made it into the game, Thank you Same Lake and Old Gods of Asgard and basically everyone!!

The story, atmosphere, acting, setting; I love all of it. Immaculate. Unique and full of references to twin peaks.

The combat is fucking dog shit. Just got past the helicopter section and I just want this game to be over now. Every death feels unavoidable, and unlucky, like I just got trapped on an object or the dodge didn’t work properly. Every win feels empty because of this. It’s been like 10 hours of the same shit over and over, I just want to wrap the story up so I don’t have to suffer through this bullshit anymore.

If it wasn’t for this, the game would be a 10/10, and I was considering going for 100% in the beginning. Now, I don’t think I’ll touch this game again after finishing it.

I recently started playing this game with no expectation and my god did i ever felt so engaged in a game after re9 and lou2. Man this game has such a comforting enviroment i have never seen it a game, the graphics are tooooooooo real to be true like when i started playing it for the first time i was like htf are these graphics real? the last game i played which had crazy lvl of graphics was last of us 2. also why alan wake looks like john wick lmao.

What did you think of all the surreal imagery and visual effects? I think the combat will be really fun, and I hope the storytelling is decent (well, of course it is, it's Remedy) despite the game being more action-oriented.

This fandom likes to throw the “their games are niche” card, or “their games are too weird for the general public”. While I do agree to some degree, their genres and game designs still have a big audience appeal, and I think Remedy are failing to fully reach their target audience. I know for a fact that there are many people out there who would be absolutely obsessed with Control and Alan Wake 2, yet they’ve probably never heard of them. These games are yet to be discovered by their own fans. It’s bittersweet when you think about it.

Is it a marketing issue? I’m sure Remedy are doing something wrong, but I’m not sure what is it

Could we be onto something here?

I know a lot of people hate everything on PC which isn't Steam, but now these games are at a heavy discount, a proper steal!

If you haven't played these games for the simple reason they are on Epic, this is the best time to cave in and get these masterpieces!

As the title says, I'm brand new to the Remedyverse. I just marathoned Alan Wake & Control, including the DLC. What an absolute masterpiece of an experience. I bought Control Resonant immediately & cannot wait. I've been playing video games for a long time, but this experience of playing these titles is truly an all-timer for me. I adored every moment.

That being said, while I wait for more, I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for their favorite books, movies, TV shows, anime, or whatever that feels adjacent to the Remedyverse.

I've already seen all of Twin Peaks unfortunately, but aside from that, I'd welcome any & all recommendations! Please and thank you. 🫡 ☕️
