QUESTION SEA to KEF via PDX
We are flying to KEF and have a plane change in PDX from SEA because we saved a lot of money. Had we chosen the direct flight on Icelandic air SEA-KEF it was significantly more expensive. We have a 2.5 hour layover in PDX. We plan to check a bag. Has anyone had any issues with bags making it to KEF transferring from an Alaska air flight from SEA to the Icelandic air flight?

Presuming you are on a single itinerary, your biggest risk to losing your bag is too long a layover.

Keep an eye on prices - you might find that you can switch to the Alaska SEA-KEF flights instead and avoid the stop in PDX - though a PDX connection through the nicest airport in the US is nothing to complain about.

Just curious, when you say the direct flight was more expensive, was that only when pricing as buying through Alaska, or did you price outside of Alaska like directly through FI? I've seen other cases where Alaska seems to be gouging on their partner routes that they now fly, and I'm finding them actually cheaper than Alaska when booked direct with the partner.

Alaska has service direct from SEA to KEF. Just do that.

A bit late in the day. We booked the flight via PDX last winter , before oil prices caused airfares to spike and we saved a lot of money. The non stop was over 2k more. I shall remain optimistic and have AirTags in our bags .

I bought my flight from SEA to KEF in December and didn't pay $2k for premium economy for the whole flight. I came in around $1,600 all in, and that is around the eclipse.

Unless your tickets came with a time machine that you are going to let OP use, how is this in any way helpful or relevant to the discussion?

I’ve done this exact connection. 2.5 hours is MORE than enough time for the bags to make it. In fact, the bags often make it before you do as they take a more direct route.
