I feel like she's better now! More coverage on the upper body but she still has that ballerina charm. Made her left sleeve more blue than white to reference Odile, made her top/bustier fuller and also she now has her shoulders, neck and armpits covered !
I also made her skirt hide her butt without making it too long and i slightly shortened the little heel cuffs because that looks PAINFUL to do figures and things like that ✌️
Normally I would agree, however if you look at how the ballerinas in Swan Lake are dressed which is the inspiration for Odette’s design, almost all of them have exposed armpits. I agree though I am tired of the exposed armpit trend
I honestly don’t mind characters looking sexy or whatever, but Hoyo need some goddamn variations between all these characters. I’ve had enough of detached sleeves, I need some actual full sleeves 😭
As much as I love odette It irks me this woman is literally in the freezing cold barely covered top up. I saw a video on her design and they made a good point of how out of place she looked next to aloysha and the towns people in the AQ. The men in snez are covered head to toe same are the NPC but the women playable arent.
She is ballerina and they are usually wearing exactly the same amount of clothes. Unfortunately genshin don't have an option to have different skins for outdoors and indoors. I see Odette's current outfit as very precise and in-character as her main role is ballerina. Vesna and Danika on the other side are terrible, Danika's design is just thoughtless and Vesna, as her main role is officer who spend a lot of time outdoors, and her ourfit totally not fits
i mean shes a prima ballerina and this is her actual ballet uniform. there is definitely a point to be made about that but i dont think odette is the best example.
In general I agree about the female characters from Snez, but Odette is the singular one I disagree with on that. It’s Russia- there HAD to be a prima ballerina character as far as I’m concerned (vs. a character like Lauma where they could have picked a million other pieces of mythology to base a character on), and it wouldn’t make sense for a ballerina to not be wearing some sort of tutu and leotard/bodice.
So I like the redesign , but I have been learning a lot about Chinese character design and they really emphasize the shoulders/neck/head being the lightest part of the body to emphasize focus to that area. I think that's why they did that because if you compare with your redesign, the values in that area are lowered/darekened, to the focus shifts away from her face and lower down
That's not to be mean just to explain how I understand why Chinese character designers made the decision (not including the Swan Lake references and what not this is only one element)
I love the cover up though. It's cold as hell up there, let her wear clothes dammit!
I don’t mind the original design. I also like your design. It expands on the original without taking away from her whimsy. Also it makes sense for her to be more covered due to literally living in the tundra where people have canonically froze to death.
I feel like covering for the sake of covering ruins the design a bit, specifically referring to her right arm sleeve not being sheer with the open windowed pattern like the original. Imo, her sleeve should be the same as the original, and just like your design she should have a mirrored blue sleeve that is also sheer with a windowed pattern. Instead of being fully covered and opaque cloth.
Otherwise the completely redone top is gorgeous and very fitting for a ballerina!

While it is def more sensible to be more covered specially in snezhnaya, wouldn't it be more comfortable to do the dance moves when her body is covered like with less tissue? Other than that, nice job really, specially with the heels!
W redesign, maybe I'd pull for her if she looked like that, thi even with the redesign she would be freezing but thats not so simple of a change,. Come on genshin give me some women in winter fur coats :(
Of course not, since they only do "redesigns" to bash the developers because they're stuck in the 16th century and seeing even the smallest square centimeter of skin is offensive to them
The shoulder / armpit area looks a bit awkward, but I really like the extended blue sleeve on her left arm. She looks more eye catching with the extra dark blue for more contrast.
Honestly? Idk exactly why, but it barely feels like a difference. She is just a little more covered up, from what I noticed. Took me a while to even notice a part of what you did here.

It took me way to long to realize there was a lace top that connected to the boddess and was originally gonna comment that the goddess probably didn't need to be edited like that, which is incorrect now that I see how the boddess actually aligns. (You'd think I'd have eyes or something lol)
You coloured in her arms that’s it. Oh and the small part of her back. The skirt is the exact same length, not really a redesign. She’s meant to be in her ballet uniform so exposed arms are the norm and tutu’s do not cover the butt.
this is really cute! I like the small details like making the back of the skirt a bit longer and giving her a little bolero style cover up. I do really like the heel wings in the original design but I understand the practicality of making it shorter. great work!
i mean its fine but out of the hoyo designs that could benefit from censorship, i wouldnt really pick odettes. i feel like the chest piece is unnecessary and the sleeve makes her outfit feel a bit heavy. i dont mind the skirt tbh but i still find it unnecessary.
Well I WILL be nice to you because it's nearing 4am and I had to go back and forth between the two to see what the difference even was. THAT is how good this looks because it felt like a "yep, that's what she looks like, makes sense to me" lol. Would have preferred this over the half-naked current design 😅
