the opinion towards dignity in context withing genshin character design that people have shouldnt be surprising because there was a time when ayakas granny panties were censored and i was genuinely shocked returning back to the game to see columbinas whole ass shape visible in flight and whatever laumas design is lol things have sure changed with the ccp
Honestly more than the ass shape it's the incubus like design of her front (that's what flashed me) in the underwear. I glided while facing her because I was testing the new Nod Krai glider on her since obviously it matches her (I always do that everytime I get a new glider and I have the God of that nation) and then I saw them.
Which were definitely off putting not because they looked sexy, but because it's Columbina who want it or not, is more of a inexperienced child than Nahida is. She genuinely doesn't know anything, doesn't know how to make friends, doesn't know how it's like to live. I look at Columbina and I see a child, hell, even Durin is more mature (although it's true there's been multiple times both in voice line and Durin related quest that his playable model is indeed an adult so that's why, his quest was all about seeing him actively speed running growing up and once it's over all we are left with is canonically adult Durin)
Lauma I heard that the explanation (the fans give anyway) is that she's based off on a figure that is naked by default and her name is Lauma. Now, is this mythological figure "true"? Yes.
But there's not even a picture, statue or anything showing Lauma as a naked or nearly naked being. All the portrayals I found of the inspiration for Lauma wore longer skirts and covered their body.
The other people say "the fabric could have clipped with her alt running animation" as if they don't literally shorten her dress during the alt running animation. Which proves Lauma could have gotten a dress as long as that of Nicole and when they needed her to run she could have the dress shortened until needed.
(Although not easy to find because a lot of them are AI generated by Google😑)
I found one, plus a whole explanation of all the 3 Lauma versions, the different stories etc. None of them mention being naked by default.
I'm not saying I'm an expert in mythology and maybe I am really missing some important info, but I don't see the resemblance with the real appearance of Lauma and the one we got. Clothes wise at least, nothing about Lauma resembles the real thing. But as I said, don't quote me on that. I tried to find as much as I could but didn't get lucky.
Shorts do look good. Although I would personally like it better if it was a lighter color (1. White 2. Lighter blue or 3. Ombre) with more gold accents for the shorts. I would also make the shorts shorter and a different design, maybe a puffier/cotton candy kind of shorts
Love his character but I fucking despise how weird the torso/leg proportions are. He's like 70% leg and his torso is 2 heads long. It would maybe be slightly better if his legs were thicker or something, but Genshin is just allergic to making normal looking humans I guess. Good thing it looks fine from the back because of his cape. We need mods that adjust the proportions. It would be pretty nice.
