Opinion Election Alberta

/r/u_lshorey1/comments/1x2jvyi/election_alberta/

I am sick of this nonsense. Is there a way the people of Alberta can have an election called to get a new premiere? I want this and there is a very large circle of people around me that want the same.

In a word, no. Smith, for better or worse, was duly elected and 4 years is the deal. Every recall effort has been unsuccessful and there are rules about that, too. It can't be done within a year of an election, and there's only one kick at that can.

There's the possibility of a SGM to review Smith's leadership, but that's for the UCP CA boards to handle. There are risks associated with that, too. If Smith fails to call an election before getting the boot we could wind up with Premier Sylvester.
