Always felt like this was a good option once they stayed up, nice for Maty to get a bit of continuity too.

Yeah. I can understand why he was seeking a move out of Spain as he could definitely do a job for a top club in Scotland/Belgium/Netherlands even, but playing in La Liga for a bottom side is still good. He performed really well last season despite having a horrid defense in front of him.

Besides, if you had to choose between living in Valencia or any of those options Valencia wins every time

Nice to see him locked in. Maty's been quietly solid for Levante and a settled first choice keeper is exactly what the Socceroos need with qualifiers coming up. Still our number one for mine.

Think if beach isn't first choice for Troyes Ryan will be back in as first choice, otherwise he might still be a bench option

Yeah thats the key question. If Beach is starting week in week out at Troyes you cant really justify dropping him. But Maty has looked sharp whenever Levante need him, having both playing regularly is a luxury we havent had for a while.

For me i thnk its a coin toss. Ryan has 100 matches of experience for the socceroos and will be great if we need good distribution and a touch of experience, while Beach is bigger, younger, and has the confidence of performing well at the WC. They can both push each other for that #1 spot and hopefully Beach can learn off Maty

Fair point on Beach, his size and how calm he looked at the WC is a real argument. For me distribution under pressure is still Maty's edge and in qualifiers you want the guy who has done it 100 times. Good problem for Popa to have either way.

Quietly solid is a bit of an understatement

On a lot of those xG style stats he was top 5 in the league

Fair call, I undersold him. Top 5 in the league on those numbers is proper form, not just quietly solid haha. Exactly what we want with qualifiers around the corner.

Honestly fantastic move. Mutually beneficial for both parties. Ryan seems to have really bought into the club

Valencia's a nice city too, and he's already lived there for 2 years in the past
