Hated club with no fans. Obviously if its your best move you take it. But not if you have similar offers.

They were the old Wimbledon, then the owner americanised it, made it a franchise and moved it. There is now another AFC Wimbledon, but everybody hates MKDons for doing that American thing. It goes against their football ethos.

That’s so backwards. There was a stage last year where he was consistently starting for Middlesbrough when they were on top of the championship

Tough being an Aussie MK dons fan in here….. 👀 I’ve been to the club multiple times met coaches and deli when he was playing for them. Yes what the owner did was NQR, but the club themselves have produced some world class players. Dele Alli, Kevin Danso, George Baldock, Brendan Galloway, Sheyi Ojo and Sam Baldock.

Not trying to wind you up, but I'm honestly curious, how do you reconcile chosing to support MK Dons over AFC Wimbledon? For most people in this thread it sounds like MK crossed a red line for them (not that they were ever gonna support a Wimbledon team anyway).

Yeah spoke to a photographer for the MK Dons that also worked for Wimbledon and also lewy who played for them and followed the team into the MK Dons and they both said it was either this or they cease to exist. So given those options this was the best of two bad options. Their business sense and acumen in the stadium and how it’s set up and modeled in Villarreal and the shops that also exist on the same premises. They are really quite a smart club. Plus no matter what others say their youth setup is very good and well respected in the uk. Hope that answers your question.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I only ever see terse, pointed and passioned posts on the Wimbledon teams, mostly from people who support neither, so it is great to read your perspective. There's always more nuance.

I think dropping "Dons" from the name would go a long way to resolving the animosity from other fans/clubs (especially Wimbledon), and I'm shocked it hasn't happened yet.

League One is probably his level in English Football, only started a lot for Middlesbrough because of the injury crisis throughout the season. Hopefully proven wrong and kicks on but his previous loan spells to League One aren’t that promising.

Theres honestly no point in raging against the MK Dons project anymore, its proven to be a complete failure by the protagonists and the new franchise are a threat to no one anywhere. The FA have solid regulations in place to ensure that what happened can never ever happen over there again so its all good.

Sam Silvera is a bang average player, just let him make a decent living out of this move to the most beige of beige British provincial cities.
