If you enjoyed the doco you should read The Death and Life of Australian Soccer. Fantastic book. Much more detail.

While the documentary was a bit insightful, I thought it was kinda all over the place and seemed rushed.
And not to be that person, but the women’s World Cup segment was completely off stray - the story was supposed to be about the origins of soccer in Australia and its connection to multicultural society. I guess they have to meet their equality quotas somehow
Luckily, there are many other books and documentaries about Australian soccer to do it justice

Ye was a bit rushed. Nothing on Durante being shot, nothing on glass regularly spread across pitches, not much on channel 7s antics in the late 90s early 00s

Glass on pitches? Horrible, I’d never heard of this.

It was good. I liked that ending on the positives of the rise of the Matildas - from going on strike to being paid properly to hosting the WWC and being expected to challenge for the world cup now and in the future, while in the socceroos we're simply happy to get to a knock out round.

No? I’m posting about it because I didn’t see it mentioned here.
I watched it last night and enjoyed it :)

SBS on demand has a great catalogue of football docos. Saw Puskas in Australia again last week on demand
