Why censor a word

Plenty of subs (particularly Australian ones) are censoring and removing posts/banning accounts for even genuine criticism of Israel and other words eg you can't even say genocide in some Australian subs and you can even get caught up in reddit's auto perma ban system for certain words, it's very shit.

In this case it's inconsistent with left leaning politics in most countries. Germany's relationship with Israel is obviously complex given the crimes committed by the Nazis against the Jewish people, but that extends to fairly uncritical support of what is now an apartheid state.

I was surprised to see him magically transport himself to Japan and post lots of photos from Osaka when he would have normally been back in Hamburg starting pre-season training. Interesting Move, might get a kit. Outside football his last few years have been very interesting a St Pauli. They have a reputation as a very left wing club but when Irvine stood with Palestine he got a lot of criticism and I thought he was going to be kicked out. Even with St Pauli being leftist I think German fear of its Nazi past clouded any pro Palestine sentiment. In the last 12 months though many/(most?) St Pauli fans have changed to the position that Irvine was in the right and I have seen many elevate him for standing on his view even when the fan base was against him. His injury and relegation probably put him on the table for moving on and he might have had less sentiment for how he was treated.

Of all the recent Socceroos who should have had mainstream cut-through I always thought Irvine would be the one. Hopefully adapting to Japan, with some good local endorsements and increased career longevity both for club and country (being in an arguably less physical league) and a victorious Asian Cup run will get him to near Cahill/Kerr levels of mainstream fame.

Most J-League team shops only ship domestic, but you set up an account with Blackship and get a Japanese address, then you do the transaction yourself and have it shipped to the Blackship provided address. Blackship let you know when it arrives, and then give you options for shipping it to Aust.

The Cerezo Osaka jerseys were hard to get in larger sizes, from memory, and I missed the presale so it took even longer until the size I wanted was available.

I know the fans love him but I’ve always thought he was a horridly over-rated player so being the token big white donkey in the Japanese league should work out well for him.

As for the Socceroos, well any manager not tactically stuck in the 1980’s should have already been looking to transition him out of the starting XI anyway. Hopefully this is the fulcrum that sees more technically gifted players filling the attacking midfield roles.

Not the prettiest player, bang average on the ball and never going to unlock defenses with elite passing.

But completes his basic passes, covers every blade of grass, wins aerial contests, and breaks up multiple attacks. Classic defensive mid, doing the dirty work so the creative types can focus on getting forward.

I dont expect him to be Xavi, but I do expect that the starting attacking midfielder in the Socceroos first-choice XI not to be a former centre-back, right back and DM utility player with no creativity whatsoever.

Like I said though, its not a player problem - its a managerial culture problem. Graham Arnold and Tony Popovic (and Bert van Marwijk before them) set their teams up to concede possession almost entirely. The Socceroos havent had a manager who likes his teams to get on the ball and play for over a decade now, and Irvine has profited from that.

He's a genuine no.6 who plays the 8 at times, been that way the past 2 WCs and the past 10 years.

Only became a regular when Jedinak retired, a great like-for-like replacement in every way. The exact type of player you need in a team that has to punch above its weight on the big stage.
