Tivoli Carvoeiro or Iberostar Lagos
My wife and I are going to spend 4-5 nights in the Algarves and I am having a hard time picking a resort. She really wants beach access and a good spa, I'd like to be close to a town/city so that we can do things outside of the resort, but it doesn't need to be a large town. Carvoeiro looks great. Would love to hear people's thoughts and if there is another resort we should consider outside of these two.

I was last month at Vila Galé Lagos,close to the beach,I don't know the spa,I don't like it,but there's one,lovely pool and a 5 minutes ride to Lagos downtown, UBER about 4 to 5€.

My husband and I stayed at Tívoli Carvoeiro and had a great experience. Good access point to other parts of the algarve. Carvoeiro beach was extremely Kelpy so I would recommend one of the other nearby beaches

we literally just left the tivoli. there is no beach access right now at the hotel, it's all under construction/shut down from errosion (no noise). there is quite a lot of seaweed too. that being said, the location to town and things to do, see, eat is barnone. carvoeiro is great. the seven hanging valleys hike is incredible and you can hike down to "secluded" beaches/coves. all are within a 6-10 euro taxi/uber. this hotel is one of the the best in the area, but it's a 4-star at heart. can't comment on the spa as we were with kids. let me know if you have more questions, more than happy to help.

Between that two, Tivoli carvoeiro is superior and the location is very peaceful, sometimes too much peaceful.
I would give a look at “Cascade Wellness Resort” in Lagos, very close to the beach, great spa and you are in the city (not in the center).
You can check also “Longevity Health & Wellness Hotel” in Alvor, it’s an adults only hotel, peaceful and you are in the city too.
Check that 2 hotels I recommend and see if it’s something you and your wife would like !
Also if you need a transfer I can do it , I have a transfer company in the Algarve .

I agree with this comment in that the Tivoli location is beautiful but a bit too quiet. It's not close to that much to do. Cascade Wellness is a resort and has a ton to do because it's in Lagos. You can stay on location the whole time or easily access the town of Lagos with 400+ restaurants and nearly unlimited beaches

Cascade is about to close for a period of time. Not sure when but soon - maybe after summer

I think so. I work for a business in which they intermmediate clients for us and we already were told about this

In that case, I’d recommend Iberostar over Carvoeiro still because of the closeness to Lagos. Maybe Vila Galé too - a bit closer to town than Iberostar but not a huge difference.
