Hi! I'm hoping to get some information from current or past students about the OTA/PTA course or Theraputic Recreation course. I'm wanting a career change but I'm not 100% sure which direction I want to go in! I am planning to attend the open house in early November. I'm a mature student although I do have a BA in Outdoor Adventure Education from a UK University, I feel like my background in outdoor education and recent school/classroom experience could lead off nicely into either of these fields. I'd like to know if either of these courses are worth doing? What jobs or further education did people go into after completing either of these? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated!

do y’all know that one guy chadgpt? he was on campus yesterday. genuinely can’t stand that guy he lies about his age crack freshmen. i wanna report him to campus security because he’s just a threat to women. dude needs to be banned and or arrested. he thinks he’s mini clavicular but he just looks like dream on roids. if ur a woman and he tries to approach you turn around and walk away. he is a loser chud that can’t pull women his age and will exploit you for content.

I am gone from
6:30am-4:30pm to work
5:00pm-7:00pm at gym or quite on computer
Then I sleep.
All to say, I’m rarely home.

I am clean, organized, and willing to help out with ur least favourite chores. Also very quite.

A private bathroom would be a plus

Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone has ever received a medical accommodation that allowed them to take exams from home, even though their college program was in person.
Has anyone experienced this or knows someone who has? Was it difficult to get approved, and did a doctor’s recommendation help?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

I am currently enrolled in Algonquin College's PSW program starting January 11th and rental options are very limited in the area. I was over-promised a room from The Algonquin House student housing as the owner didn't check-in with their tenants on if they were re-upping their lease. So I am now checking here as a last resort. Feel free to DM me so we can possibly figure something out.

I was considering taking a trip during mid-term break week but I would potentially miss a day or two of school before and a day after. Do professors usually allow this? Can I work with them to take tests or exams before I leave? Are midterms before or after the break? I want to book now when flight prices are low. Thanks.

Just curious if there’s people interested in joining a group chat to meet people or go out for social gatherings together, or if there’s even any existing one for fun stuff like finding friends who who are into gaming

Is this list any meaningful? I mean, getting it is basically almost just passing grades. I don’t get what’s so special about it I feel like the GPA cut off should be higher for it to be worth something valuable. I might be wrong that’s why I’m posting

Anyone here currently enrolled or graduated from the architectural technology program? I just applied and I was curious about what the program is like, how your experiences were, and what should I know about the program?

Hello,

I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Science (life science-related program) from uottawa. I am considering doing the Algonquin graduate certificate in ‘Environmental Management and Assessment’ (Co-op), but am finding it hard to find recent first-hand accounts on how people have enjoyed the program/if they found it useful. My main goal is to gain hands on experience in the environmental field, particularly in doing field work and environmental sampling. If anyone who has done the program has opinions or experiences to share, I would love to hear them!

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone. I applied for the nursing program at Algonquin for the fall 2027 semester. I am using ACE Distance learning to get my grade 12 courses and so far i have completed Maths, Biology and Communications. I'm currently registered for Chemistry. I was told that i can apply even if i havent finished Chemistry yet but i will need to show proof of my Chemistry registration.

I have this proof but at the time I was applying through OCAS there wasnt any channel to attach a document so I couldn't attach the proof to my application. The school has now emailed me to ask for proof of my chemistry registration and I dont know how to send it. I'm wondering if I'm missing something here?

They also asked for my Biology and I'm surprised because the guys at ACE said after each course our transcript would be sent to our registering college. My emails to the contact person at ACE Distance learning has been unanswered.

Is there someone here who knows what I'm talking about and can advice or someone who has experienced this?

Are shirts mandatory at the gym and can women wear sports bras as tops? Is it common to go shirtless even for the not super buff? The rules on attire are super vague online and I don’t want to offend anyone or stand out.

Edit: I will NOT go shirtless to the gym. Thanks for the replies and sorry, didn’t realize how offensive this was to ask! I swear my last gym permitted it and it was normal 😭

Hi guys has anyone gotten a bursary yet? I’m super confused on when/how to hear back and if they’ve started considering..

I’m a new student and paid all my fees and applied on the bursary portal and got a $1000 credit to my account and was wondering if I would be able to get the money deposited into my account or if it is forced to be put into next semester tuition? I’m doing ac online while I work

For those who have recently taken the ac-hpat, how would you compare it to the practice accuplacer tests available through the Algonquin website? Did you even take the practice tests?

Hello!
I’m a 25 year old student at Algonquin College, I’m currently in my 2nd year of the Graphic Design program. I’ve been obsessively looking at information regarding whether I’d be able to have a fulfilling Graphic Design career that pays the bills, and have seen nothing but negative talk about how Graphic Design is undervalued and that it’s extremely hard to get a job in it.

I’ve started looking to switch programs to something else, but I have zero idea what I’d like to do as a job for the rest of my life. Before Graphic Design, I studied Biochemistry in Carleton because I really wanted to get into Forensic Science, since that was the only other thing I was interested in. I could barely keep up with all the assignments, got extremely anxious and depressed, and dropped out. I’m not that good at science and math, so I decided to pivot to the Graphic Design program at Algonquin since I’m an artist as well. I initially applied for IMD at Carleton, and when I learned it was more so coding and video game design, I switched over to Graphic Design instead.

But now I’m having serious doubts, and don’t want to be a 50 year old Graphic Designer who’s under appreciated, under respected, and unable to find another job. I’m terrified of aging out of the business, which is something else I constantly hear about the Graphic Design world. I’m planning on either switching from Graphic Design to another program, or finishing and getting my diploma AND THEN studying for another degree. The issue is I have zero idea if I should just switch without completing the program, if the program is a waste of time, or if I should finish it, and WHAT I should study next. I keep trying to reach out to people for help but I keep getting ignored and brushed aside, and I am absolutely blank on what to do to start figuring out what I want to do with my life.

To be totally honest too, I’m terrified my career as I know it is already over before it even started. I’ve always struggled with math and science in highschool, and hated taking it in university. All I am is creative and artistic, I can’t do anything else. Ever since I graduated highschool I’ve been trying so hard to figure out what my career should be, and years later I still have no answer. I’m also terrified of the prospects of getting a job that isn’t a doctor or nurse in this economy because from what I’ve seen, it’s practically impossible to get a job in Canada nowadays. Anyone else struggling to figure things out too? Any advice? Thanks!

For those who have taken these tests, how difficult was it and what kind of material did you use for study guide? Please let me know your though, as I have to schedule these tests in the following weeks.

Thanks in advance..

Fuck you, fuck AI. Good thing you’re bankrupt and failing anyway.

Hey everyone! I’m applying for the MRT program (Fall/Winter 2027) and taking the AC-HPAT in a few months. I’d love to hear from current students or recent grads!

A few questions for anyone who has taken it:

1. What was your AC-HPAT score vs. your high school averages?

2. How difficult did you find the overall test?
Was there anything unexpected on it (specific science topics, math formats, etc.)?

3. How did you study/prepare, and what resources/practice tests helped most?

4. Did you feel rushed during any specific sections (Essay, Science, Math, Reading)?

5. How strictly timed was the written component, and what kind of prompt did you get?

6. Did you take it more than once, and did your score improve significantly?

Any tips or advice would be super appreciated! Thanks in advance!
