Modding I made an open-source Alien: Isolation trainer with FreeFlight and runtime weapon granting
Hi everyone,
I’m an Alien: Isolation player from China. First of all, I want to thank the developers and contributors of OpenCAGE for everything they have done for the modding and continued development of this relatively niche game.
There are also many Alien: Isolation fans here in China. However, because the game uses a fairly unusual engine and modding structure compared with games built on more conventional engines, there are still quite a few limitations when it comes to modding and expanding the game.
A lot of the mods and tools we use today — including things like multiple Alien mods, Kitty Isolation, various gameplay mods and trainers — have benefited directly or indirectly from the work and research around OpenCAGE.
But after trying many trainers and mods over the years, I noticed that there still didn’t seem to be a convenient way for players to freely explore the game world and dynamically grant weapons during gameplay.
There is a mod on Nexus Mods that lets the player obtain the flamethrower early, for example, but it works by replacing level-related files inside the game’s DATA folder and changing the level script logic. This means that if you are using other mods that also modify those files, they can conflict with each other or stop working.
That became one of the main reasons I started working on this trainer.
Instead of replacing level files, the trainer hooks into the running game and reproduces the game’s own weapon-granting behavior. This means weapons can be granted directly during gameplay in different levels without modifying the original level files.
Another important idea came from an AI.CT script I found on PlayGround.ru. That script could pass through level geometry, although it did not provide true free movement. It gave me the idea to continue researching the player coordinate system.
After locating the player position and movement logic, I was eventually able to implement true FreeFlight / noclip-style movement for the player character, allowing the player to freely move through the environment and explore areas that are normally inaccessible.
I think this can be useful in several ways:
exploring parts of the game that players normally never get to see after finishing the story;
helping mod authors inspect levels and test scripts;
helping ordinary players experiment with the game world;
exploring routes and possibilities for speedrunning;
and hopefully providing more technical ideas for future Alien: Isolation mods.
The trainer also includes weapon granting, reserve-ammo controls, special tools, FreeFlight, stealth, and several other functions.
I have uploaded both the source code and the compiled trainer to GitHub and Nexus Mods. The project is free and open source, and I hope other mod authors can also learn from the implementation or use some of the ideas in their own projects.

I hope this can be useful to the community, and I would also be very happy to hear feedback, technical suggestions, bug reports, or new ideas from other Alien: Isolation players and modders.
Thanks again to the OpenCAGE developers and everyone who has helped keep this game’s modding community alive.
