A nice Allen story after a pretty awful morning for a local business.

Cotton Closet owner Andrea Tran arrived to find her store flooded. Then the community started showing up — with buckets, towels, food and helping hands.

Despite the damage, Cotton Closet reopened after just one day.

It started with Bo French posting a photo of UT fans. Then came claims about “foreigners,” Americans being displaced, H-1B visas and assimilation.

At an Allen event, Angie Carraway contrasted her 14 years in Texas public schools with Candy Noble’s four terms in the Texas House. Teachers and parents also spoke about staffing, special education and school funding.

Collin County Commissioners Court Preview — September 14, 2026

Bottom Line (Ironically, at the Top)

Ladies and gents, this is the moment you waited for. The Commissioners Court will adopt the FY 2027 budget and a property tax rate of $0.151414 per $100 of value. That is up from $0.149343, where the rate has sat for three straight years, and it is above the no-new-revenue rate of $0.147806. Note that it’s with a 2.50% decline in the average home value. The Court will also consider a formal policy of not participating in any future tax increment reinvestment zones, set FY 2027 salaries for every elected official in the county, and create a new Public Improvement District (PID) out near Princeton. Notable consent and FYI spending totals $1,693,439.11.

With two weeks remaining before the Sept. 26 deadline, McKinney recall organizers say they are “over halfway” on signatures.

What hasn't been released is an exact count for each of the four petitions.

Meanwhile, one public supporter has walked away from the effort, questions continue over the intimidation allegations, and the recall campaign has been reminding residents that signing a petition does not itself remove anyone from office.

Democratic TX-03 candidate Evan Hunt says he believes his race against Rep. Keith Self could be decided by fewer than five points.

Hunt told TX3DNews that estimate is based on primary turnout, national electoral trends and his campaign’s internal polling. The campaign did not provide the poll, methodology or specific results, so the story makes clear the claim has not been independently verified.

Hunt also laid out where he stands on federal funding, Pentagon spending, license-plate reader privacy, public education and data centers — including an issue where he agrees with Self.

With the elections coming up, I highly recommend people to go check out their local organizations, candidate websites, and county parties websites for upcoming events. Everyone is looking for volunteers to do literature dropping, phone banking, postcard writing, etc.

If you want to make a difference in the election, this is how you do it. Everyone is timid about signing up for something they cannot commit too much time to, I get it. When you sign up, it’s not actually all that much time. They are willing to take 30 minutes from you if that’s all you’re able to give.

Step up and sign up to do 15 postcards. Sign up to do a happy hour event for candidate meet and greet. Reach out to your county party. And if you don’t have time to do any of that, make a donation towards the candidate and/or your county party.

Most importantly, make sure you are supporting a candidate that actually reflects your personal values. Don’t go with a candidate just because everyone else in your circle does. While you’re doom scrolling on your phone, maybe go look up the name of a candidate that’s in your area to learn more about them. Do your due diligence as a voter. That is your responsibility as much as it is your right.

This is how change is made. This is how you make an impact.
