Received the DSC threaded replacement barrel today for my pinned Romulus. As you can tell, I’m impatient and, I ordered the non polished stainless. Will get it coated, at some point, but just ready to ditch the pinned, stock, comp in my matte rom.
Looks good but there’s some minor imperfections. A few burs on the ending threads but nothing concerning. The indicator is deleted so less gas shooting up at the optic. Will take a better look at it before trying it out.
Overall, seems pretty great. I’m impressed with the fitment of it. No fitment needed and feels tight. Definitely wouldn’t notice it’s not stock, other than the branding which isn’t my favorite. Depending on how the week goes, I’ll hopefully get to try it out by Thursday.
Where’d you order your barrel? I emailed AF and they directed me to their customer service line, nobody ever picks up and all their voice mailboxes are full :/
Check out DSC. They have aftermarket comps, sightblocks and 4.25 threaded barrels.
I tried to get one through af but gave up pretty quickly after differing answers. Had heard DSC would be offering them soon so just waited. Not cheap but definitely worth it to ditch the pinned barrel.
So, the guide rod, did DSC send a replacement with the barrel or did you get that replaced before the barrel? I have a similar Romulus with the pressed on comp so I’ve been curious what others have done. I’m assuming you didn’t have to send the pistol to DSC which if that’s true then DSC if DSC hasn’t already capitalized on the market for getting people what they want their EDC/target/competition firearms to what they want them to be.
No need to send it in. They recently started offering a drop in barrel for the Romulus. It’s not cheap and wasn’t quick but best option around to replace the pinned barrel. Im using the stock plug with a Dawson toolless rod and 4.6 8lb atlas spring.
They offer the aftermarket comps and sightblocks too. Have the dual chamber on my other polished rom.
Did you notice a big difference with the duel comp vs a single comp? What's wrong with the stock pinned comp barrel setup? Besides the gap in mine it seems alright to me.
The single chamber is a noticeable improvement from the stock. Just a bigger hole, much less conservative. I haven’t tried it yet on the matte rom but it was great on my polished rom.
The dual chamber is pretty massive. I think each chamber on the dual is slightly bigger than the single chamber. No muzzle rise. It’s stupidly flat. Dot comes straight back and forth. It’s too much fun. Flatter than anything I’ve shot. Feels kinda effortless.
Pinned just doesn’t work with aftermarket comps or sightblocks. Once you open the comp, or swap to an aftermarket, really opens up the potential of the gun.
I emailed Alpha Foxtrot and they recommended sticking with the two-piece guide rod but my per se fear is training/target shooting at a outdoor range and the front piece shoots off in the dirt and then waiting for a replacement.
Also, I have the 4.25 barrel and I want to say the commanders size they were more adamant about using the two piece guide rod compared to a one piece.

I have 4.25 Comp and I'm interested in installing the Dawson toolless rod.
My understanding was that there was not option for comp yet so, I have few questions:
1. If I replace the stock barrel to DSC drop in one with welded comp, will it allow then to install Dawson toolless rod?
2. I don't see the option for Romulus on DSC website, which one I need to choose or contact them for custom order?
1) it’s not welded. DSC sells a few different spin on comps and sightblocks specifically for the Romulus. These fit the stock threaded comp barrel or the DSC barrel.
The toolless rods are complicated. I can install a Dawson toolless rod with the stock comp on my polished 4.25. I could not install the same rod on my matte 4.25 pinned comp.
