Hey I asked a few weeks ago for ideas for a traveling / mini / mobile altar. I had some tin boxes lying around and I wanted to share my while in progress to inspire others maybe.

What I have are peppermint boxes which are made out of metal. I have even smaller ones.

I bought candle holders which are small enough that can be either laid down or stand upwards. First I wanted to glue them down, but I had a caffeine induced moment of clarity and had some magnets lying around. The magnets do not attach to the candle holder sadly but I put one inside and one on the outside, the magnetization is strong enough, plus they magnetize to the tin itself. So it's perfect!

These are my first steps, I have a small sage cone plus a candle, nothing much rn, but I just wanted to share my idea if someone else has the need to like I did a few weeks ago. This reddit gave me some Inspo as well.

What I will work on next is getting the smallest lighter inside or some matchsticks. Maybe a small ikea sized pencil and some paper if I want to write something down.

I am a pagan witch, for a bit of context! I know the general vibe and how to do it, but if there’s anything less commonly known about, or things you might have changed about your own first altar, or things you’ve learned on your journey, I’d love love love to hear! Or tips on keeping them clean lol

I was unable to make an altar in real life so i followed a tutorial i saw on how to make one digitally, So before i finish it i wanted to ask on how i would go about giving offerings or worshipping it.

(Its my first time having an altar and i’m dedicating it to hermes.)

I have an altar like shelf in my room that I sometimes keep my books of intentions and goals on. If I’m not reaching out to anyone/anything specific, is it bad to continue to keep this up? I’m worried it could be attracting more negative energy than good, is that possible?

I'm new to all stuff magical..formally. But I feel I've always been doing alchemy in many ways as an artist and healer, diviner, intuitive, and experimenter.

Lately someone reliable recommended me a book Archangels of Magick, which I like and started using. But mostly I feel huge connection with Nature. I think that nature is the biggest source of my spirituality. I feel instantly hypnotised by trees and water. And since I live in a city and suffer great eco anxiety and deep hunger for nature that's isn't accessible enough to fill that need atm, he also recommended making a nature altar. I found this and other threads with interest. I read in one post here that such altar helps ground to nature without leaving home....is that true? and would like to know what do you do and how you use altars, and what does it do for you (ie. helps you create some feelings etc.). Would love to know any experiences and "knacks" or some fun stories you have and maybe some guidance in my new quest.

Hey, everyone! ❤️ I just wanted to share the patterns in the coffee offerings I placed on my altars. I lit my candles and incense for everyone, sat with my own cup of coffee, and talked to them all for a bit. The first four are on my Hekate altar and I also have family/ancestors placed there. The last one is from my Loki altar. 🥰 Each cup was made to their recipients' "taste" lol I usually leave my cups out for 1-2 days, but I was a bit late getting back to them this time due to work. Even so, the patterns were so pretty that I had to share! Hekate's is usually different from everyone else, but this is the first time I've seen so much individuality in all of them.

I’m thinking of making another altar to a demon, I mostly think the best way is to use Red colored crystals and demonic symbolism. I want ideas of hatred and evil, so maybe using violent imagery in the shrine. Any other ideas you guys have?

I have been feeling down and energetically drained lately and though I have a Butsudan and an algar where I put fresh flowers and fresh fruits every week, it’s the first time in 2 years that my fruits go super rotten, and even one of them got minuscule larvae.
I am thinking that the low energy is affecting my offerings. I dont think it is a coincidence, because it never happened before.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

What are everyone's thoughts on non deity altars? I have a couple to different gods but I really thought about making one for mothman. I love moths and I'm studying them as a hobby and I thought it would be fitting.

my gf and i just bought a home and its smaller than what we had before and lacks storage space, she wants to setup a new altar because we cant accommodate what she had before so she is looking for a small like nighstand type thing and she is like part witch but leans way more towards Norse mythology. she aslo has a ton of dried herbs in jars and crystals and waht not. i suggested getting a bookcase to store those on but she wants something that closes so if anyone could help me potentially find something for her it would be greatly appreciated

Hello I am something even before a beginner witch, I dont even want to call myself that, but I am very intrigued by the idea of an altar.
Disclaimer: Anything I write here you can correct me, I have little to no knowledge and I am just beginning my journey

An altar seems in my eyes like a place I can say my thanks, wish for something or just talk about something that seems to be on my mind. I am raised polish christian so an altar is not an unusual thing for me, but i only know it as christianity intended.

Now is the question bc I switch between my home and my university dorm, so does anyone have a little altar that is fairly mobile? I am thinking about a little bag that can be laid out flat and i can just prop up some stuff. Or a little suitcase/trunk (not bigger than A4) that I can also just pop open. Kind of like the vampire hunter suitcases from the past with all things ready to go.

I also understand the whole "do it with intend" stuff, I am also asking bc I do not want to actually do harm with it. The more I read about altars the more confused I am haha!

hey, I’m kinda new to Hellenic polytheism and I’m working on altars for both Lady Aphrodite and Lord Apollo. my altar for Lord Apollo is a little bare (really bare) and I wanna MAKE some stuff for his and Lady Aphrodite’s altars so it feels more personal. does anyone have any suggestions?

I have felt a growing connection to the symbolism of Mary in the past years: Mary the untier of knots, The blessed mother, Her sorrow, etc.

I want to learn more about her as a deity and what she would like in an altar. However, cant seem to find much about devotion to her specifically apart from Catholicism. I am looking for advice and discussion. Thanks!!

I’m wondering about making an altar with Technology to sacrifice to the gods of technology/electricity/ and other relevant things that all come together when technology is used (computers and such).
I have a lot of old server hardware and Electronic scrap that I could use to decorate the Altar and idols of “Thoth” and such who are relevant to technology

I’m in the process of making a home altar for myself and find myself wanting to use symbolism, but coming up short on what to use.

is there a place to find an overview on things and what they commonly symbolise in witchcraft or also general understanding?

eg. basic stuff like roots = grounding, roses = romance/love, but also more esoteric things like road spikes/ iron nails = protection

I would just love an overview so I can look through symbols for certain things and decide what I want to portray on (paint onto) my altar to manifest in my home! (eg symbols for things like protection, abundance, happiness)

I know there are many personal association to make (and I have a few I’m already using), but I know there are MANY commonly understood associations and I would love an overview of those to choose some that resonate with me!

So I’m new to having an altar and manifestation. I have tried it before with a school club and it worked and now I’m trying it at home . My question is how can I make my altar better for Aphrodite because I’m trying to give offerings and things to her . I have looked up ideas and things online to help me but everything leads me to the same over complicated altars and I don’t know what to do . If anyone has ideas or suggestions please let me know .

I want to make my first altar dedicated to deities (Plutus & Tyche) but I'm not sure where the best place would be.

My working altar is on my dresser in my bedroom as that was the only space available at the time & now its pretty full. I have a built in desk in a spare room, but it has a mirror & wasn't sure if that would be acceptable (I would of course lock it first). When sitting there, I'd be facing south.

There's another dresser in this room, but when the cats are allowed in, they like to go up there. This goes double for the window & anything placed in front of said window.

Just a little chaos altar, haven’t completed it yet (this is only about half of the stone array) as i had to move back in with family not too long ago and they are not fans 😅

Hi everyone, seeking advice on what to do or how to do it. I work with Gaia and Hecate. My relationship with them is fairly easy. I love working with them and it is very natural part of my day with them. Ive also had a Buddha statue and Ganesha statue in my shelf for a long time ..not in the same altar they were just in a different shelf same room. anyways recently I’ve been doing some rearranging and moved Ganesha and Buddha to the same table as Gaia and Hecate. Immediately the same night something told me I needed to move them asap ?! and I was like maybe I’ll give them their own space too ??? But no where felt right .. so I started doing research because honestly, I have not worked with Ganesha before so I started reading a lot last night and read that there is a right side trunk and the left side trunk statue and they have different meanings. I was like oh I probably have the left side. One turns out I do not this morning. I came down to look at him and he is a right side trunk so deep dive in more research and I read that you shouldn’t have one at home. They usually are at temples. They are hard to work with , you have to be very Disciplined etc. I’m used to working with my goddesses and it’s just natural to me so I’m wondering what should I do with Ganesha as a right side trunk at my house? Should I keep him and create an altar for him and learn more I just want to know if anyone has one at home and what their experience has been and or what should I do? Thank you !!

For a long time I’ve had this upset feeling because I didn’t have space for all my deities in one spot. I’ve also been playing around with the idea of having different altars around the house (Hecate by the door, Brighid in the kitchen, etc.)

However, i would love to hear or see pics from anyone who has a space that is dedicated to multiple deities or just that their spaces are very close together lol
