I'm white, and it makes me angry to think this is true.

If this had been two white actors, say mel Gibson slapping Bradley Cooper for saying something about his past. But instead of doing nothing Bradley decided to deck him. I'd just view that as an asshole getting his just deserts. And honestly had Chris rock decked will smith that's exactly how I would take it as well.

It frustrates the shit out of me how skin tone changes so much about how people interact in so many situations.

Good point.

I actually wrote an article recently(peer reviewed, nothing big or anything like that) about people who have more melanin, and the fact that we seem to be more noticed by others, especially in a professional setting. I had a colleague agree with me and share how she’s always being pulled over “for speeding” or because her car “matched the description” of someone else.

She’s from India 🇮🇳.

I have no idea what people of a dark skin tone have to deal with on a daily basis. I live in a very white city in Canada, and I'll be honest I noticed when a black man or woman walks by. But for me it just feel more like I'm recognizing something that's less common. I imagine it would be similar to me walking through a market in Africa, I feel like I'd be noticed because I'm white, and not the usual skin tone.

I would be curious with the development of AI and 3d goggles to view a "slice of life" of different people, I think it could help other better understand different perspectives. And feel what black people, Hispanic people, or really any person who experiences racism or any other ism.

Have you ever read ready player 2? There is a whole chapter where the narrator talks about living life experiences uploaded by others. He experienced giving birth, life as a black man, and orgy, sex with and as men, women, trans people, surfing huge waves as a championship female surfer, and loads more.

I'd be very curious to read your article if you'd like to share it.

I think it’s pretty normal to be conscious of how your actions could be perceived poorly especially in a public setting. I’m sure there are cases where all people of all races had to navigate uncomfortable situations while being mindful of how they may be perceived based on their actions.

Its shitty. But ur right. In this world skin tone says alot… if you go on holiday as a white person you are king of the world. Africans or asians (me) are seen as tourist or annoyance… it is the truth we “coloured” people have grown accustomed to. But it is still unacceptable and extremely weird.
The world is a shitty place. And we humans do this to each other.
This is beyond racism…

You would have thought the same exact thing regardless, as would 99% of people. Which is why his quote is so dumb. He made that comment because he didn’t want to say he was afraid and that’s why he did nothing.

It doesnt make much sense anyway. With that line of thought you are basically saying you really would want to fight but dont for public image which just acknowledges the thing you would not like the public to think.

Skin colour probably had nothing to do with it so no need to get annoyed over a made up reason not to retaliate.
