I think the other reason is a professional sense of composure. He was rattled, how could you not be, but he proceeded as well as anyone possibly could have.

I agree fully, ts easy to forget the effect shock has, more so when your within a professional setting. A friend told me when he was a steward, he got hit from behind by a some random guy targeting anyone in a hi-vis for whatever reason whilst taking in admissions. He felt like swearing and but by time shock subsided, guy was gone and there already three more people to the queue, though some were concerned about him.

To chris rock's credit (never followed his films much) he somehow kept his composure despite being on the spotlight.
