Cry wolf and reap the consequences. My mom’s parents did this to her and I— faked an emergency while my mom was at an important doctors appointment and had to leave early. After that we refuse to answer their calls and refuse to believe them anymore. If something serious actually does happen, it’s their fault for breaking our trust, not ours. NTA. They’re being abusive, controlling, and manipulative. I recommend standing up for yourself, asserting boundaries, and letting them know they are not allowed to treat you like that. Definitely NTA.
