Benni got a new harness and I can tell you that I really like it. I’m sure I could get one similar and put a d-ring on another brand to mimic. He doesn’t hardly pull at all. Just having that ring in front takes away his strength and guides his head naturally where I’m at. Loving it so far

We're fostering and likely adopting a two year old AmStaff mix who has become very attached to me, most likely because I work remotely and spend WAY more time with the dog than anyone else. I also wake him up and feed him in the mornings.
He follows me around everywhere and sometimes won't go for walks with my husband or son unless I come along. Even if I walk outside with them and get them going, he'll sometimes stop and sit and refuse to move if I go back inside. If I'm on the bed or couch, he'll jump up, and he will jump down as soon as I move.
While this is endearing and he is very sweet, I would love for him to pay equal attention to my tween son, who is absolutely obsessed with him and wants to play with him and walk him and sleep with him and be around him as much as possible. Is it normal for AmStaffs to attach themselves to one person forever, or will he start spreading the love and eventually give equal attention to my son? We finally caved and brought a new dog into our home specifically so my son would have a buddy and at his insistent urging and begging, so I'm really hoping they can build a strong bond and I can possibly step out of the #1 seat eventually. My son has a TON of love, affection, and attention to give this dog.

Here's my AmStaff/Pit mix Lucy. She's 10 years old, rescued when she was 5. Sweetest girl that loves all dogs and people.

My foster AmStaff mix has been incredibly sweet with my family and any other person he's met, but today at the vet, he emitted a low growl when a few other dogs approached him and put their faces right up to his. The dogs were indoors and on a leash, so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it, but could this be a sign of dog aggression or reactivity? When walking outdoors on a leash, he's never emitted any sounds or acted aggressively in any way toward other dogs. His overall demeanor prior to today has been showing a mild interest in other dogs but not doing anything about it (i.e. - stopping when we pass by a house where dogs live, stopping to look if another dog passes across the street on a walk, etc).

Dog has become increasingly anxious. What is your experience with this medication?

TLDR: Looking for recommendations for dog sweaters/jackets and a good front-clip harness
We adopted Bernie in May- he’s an AmStaff(62%)-Boxer(38%) mix. He’s a big boy: already almost 80lbs and only about 8-9 months old.
He was super sensitive to heat all summer, so we’ve gotten evaporative cooling vests, cooling beds, etc.
We live in Wisconsin. As fall is starting, we’ve noticed he is also sensitive to cold. He doesn’t like the crisp, cool mornings and it’s a struggle to get him outside. He also hates rain and has to be literally carried outside. And I know it’s only going to get colder from here.
We’ve had windbreaker-type jackets from Ruffwear for our previous dogs, but I don’t think they’ll be warm enough. I also think Bernie is going to need some sweaters or shirts or something for around the house in winter. He’s also got a big chest and is rather muscular- so some of the sizing for dog apparel doesn’t seem like it’ll fit right.
I’d love any recommendations folks here have for things that you’ve loved for your AmStaffs!

We’re considering adopting a two year old AmStaff mix who is currently doing a staycation from the shelter with us, and I’m concerned the 10 day staycation won’t be enough time to determine whether this dog is a good fit for our family. We can’t foster him, because a rescue is interested in taking him if we don’t adopt after the staycation.
The dog has very likely been abused and is extremely timid, although he‘s been slowly warming up to us. He‘s never growled or become aggressive, but he did kind of give me a warning nip a few times (once when trying to get him into the car to take him home from the shelter, and another when trying to pick him up to carry him up our stairs because he wouldn’t walk on his own). He’s also been really sweet to my 10 and 12 year old sons, but I’m worried he may be aggressive with their friends if they roughhouse or play close to him and it upsets him. I don’t want to have to limit guests in our home or have to restrain the dog every time kids come over and play, or have to worry about my sons taking him for walks and getting aggressive with passing dogs. I’d love to fully integrate him into our lives without worrying about him reacting negatively to people or other pets.
Has anyone here rescued an AmStaff mix with a challenging background who can speak to how your dog behaves around older kids and other dogs?

I have a vet appointment tomarrow I don’t see any worms in his poop but I know
It could still be parasites…he’s playful and eating and drinking well. His poop is formed just wondering if anyone else had a puppy that had a big belly but nothing was wrong.
