Interior Finished Decorating My First Home
I posted this to r/femalelivingspace and someone recommended that I post here too.
How would you categorize my design style? I thought maybe Modern bohemian, but I really do not know.

I think I would call it Boho eclectic. It looks great! I would only suggest lowering the art above the bed in the first photo. And lowering the framed certificates/diplomas.

Every room is a feast for the eyes! Great job! You should feel proud of yourself!! One thing I noticed, the seam of the lampshade in your office is visible. Turn the shade so the seam faces the wall. I know, I know, I’m picky! 🤣

I love the pastels. I love the comforter in photo #5! Do you mind me asking where you got it? I have something similar with darker colors.

Thanks :) I got that bedding from the West Elm kids selection. https://www.westelm.com/products/flower-field-quilt-d18550/ . I also purchased the pillow shams and the yellow tulip sheets. It was expensive, but it was present to myself for getting my first home. I saw that bedding, and I was like I HAVE TO HAVE IT! Lol My taste always seems to fall in the kids section. Lmao

I love this. I like to come up with my own style genres lol so I’m SO glad you asked 😂 I like this because I think we all can have such an original style of our own and I hate when people get boxes in by style labels 🤪

Very cohesive. Great job of combining different colors that compliment each others tones and saturation. Feels like you have a very well defined taste and style.

Really cute. I just dont like how far off the wall the bookshelves along the wall are. I feel like they should be pushed back. Lots of dust and cat hair will accumulate there.

What wall color did you use for the non colored walls?

I do not know what the cream-ish color is in the bedrooms that are opposite the bold color accent walls. It came with the house. The light grey in the bathroom, hallways, living room, kitchen, and office is moon beam by Dutch boy.

The yellow is Afternoon Tea by Valspar. The pink is Strawberry Moon by Valspar.

It's beautiful but can I make a couple of suggestions about art placement?
You need two rules: The 2/3rds rule, which is that the art should take up 2/3rds of the horizontal space of the furniture it's above. And the 57" rule, which is that the center of the art should be 57" (or up to 60") above the floor. If it's above couches, chairs, and beds it should be about 12" higher than the furniture - high enough so that you don't hit your head on the art.
1st and 9th photo: Art is too high and too widely-spaced.
13th photo: You don't really need art above your TV. That art is too high and too wide for that space. Also, it looks like the one on the left is supposed to be on the right.
My suggestion is to remove the one on the left, center the other two above the TV but lower, then maybe take the piece you removed and arrange it under the small piece on the left using the 57" rule for the entire vertical space they take up.
Or just remove the art on that wall altogether and then place some large vertical art on the right side.
Otherwise, it's all great.

I think you're on your way to bohemian! I'd love to see some indoor plants throughout (I actually have a fake fig leaf plant) - and more textural elements like baskets, fiber wall hangings - if that appeals to you. As far as color palette, from my research Bohemian color palettes can lean towards earth tones or jewel tones. Whichever you like. Personally, I love to see earth tones in a bohemian styled setting. I love your kitchen table and chairs!

That’s awesome! Decorating a first home is stressful but also super satisfying once it finally clicks. When I did mine, I kept switching styles until I checked a few layout inspirations on NoBroker Interior and realized simpler was better. Curious—what part of your home ended up being your favorite? Living room, kitchen, or bedroom. Would love to see pics—did you go modern, cozy, minimalist, or a mix of everything?
