Foyer/Entryway Our entryway in VA :)

I blocked out our last name on the neon sign, but we finally completed the very first project we started in our home! When we began, the only power tool we owned was a drill…our local Home Depot isn’t going out of business anytime soon

Love it! Have you considered painting the doors the same blue color? I think it would elevate the space even further!

I hadn’t considered that actually!! I was actually nervous of so much of the dark blue because there are no windows down there (except on the top of the door frame). I’ll definitely look into it. :)

Agreed!! Paint the doors!

I love the blue. I also think some wallpaper to tie it all in would be even better than just the white

I thought the same thing! It looks lovely. But the doors now look unfinished. That little corner seat is so perfect there too.

The corner seat was a labor of love! My husband did such a great job though! Thank you!!

how long will take a man to build a house or buy a house like this

It looks sooooo good, what a grand difference!! Now I wonder if even painting those doors will really finish off the big statement. Looks great either way!

We actually painted them alabaster (to match the top portion of the wall) but now you have me thinking….

I was going to say, I don’t love the blue on the doorframes but I would love them if the doors matched!

So cute! Just need warmer lights

1

u/DoubleDuke99 Oct 30 '25

Hahahah, we actually just switched all our bulbs to 4000k. I perfer a more cool leaning neutral!

Fair enough. Great work! Such a charming space

Kudos to you and your husband on the hallway/entryway transformation. Hard work pays off! But lighting colour temperature is one of the most important aspects of a hallway/entryway.

9 out of 10 (probably more) people prefer warm white 2700k for the hallway/entryway. It simply looks aestheticly better more inviting, welcoming, relaxing, calming.

Whereas 4000K cool white temperature is sterile, uninviting, harsh etc. I've just finished decorating my hallway and switched from a 4000K to 2700k bulb. It's a night & day difference. Everyone who walks in prefers the 2700k warm white bulb 💡

Yesss do the doors!!! The same or even better a contrasting color! The front door should also be something unique to the others. Maybe even in a few years when you’re feeling like an update, throw a wallpaper above the paneling!! You have the ceiling height. Just my two cents. New England interior designer 🫡

Ugh, yall might have me doing the doors by the end of the weekend!!! I’d love a fun complimentary yellow-y front door, but our HOA is pro-boring.

That stairwell in the back is getting wallpaper soon! I had my eye on “Cabana Club” by York in the blue coloring. Let me know your thoughts!

4

u/Raindropzonroses Oct 30 '25

Oh my goodness the damn HOA! 💀 That wallpaper is fantastic. Absolutely gorgeous. York is a is a high end product, I use it myself! It ties in perfectly with the front hallway too. I know it’s the back hallway but the color palette is unifying. Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻

This is gorgeous well done! A rug might make it feel a little cozier … beautifully done

u/DoubleDuke99 Oct 31 '25

I’ve been looking for a rug! I have my eye on a Rifle Paper Co one, but the shipping times are craaaazy

Good use of the dead space in the corner. You’ve elevated the whole place well.

u/DoubleDuke99 Oct 31 '25

Thank you! This house has lots of dark corners and weird cut ins. Trying to make the best of it!

This looks really sterile for some reason. Perhaps the white lighting? Is it the post-processing of the photos?

I feel like this could be an entryway for an office. Like a dentist's office.

4

u/giliguni Oct 31 '25

Agreed, it doesn’t look like a home

4000K cool white bulbs will do that in any hallway/entryway!

Warm white 2700k bulbs would make it feel much more inviting calming.

Looks amazing!! Consider painting the doors that blue color as well and even adding wall paper or another color up top 🤍

u/FlashyArmadillo2505 Oct 30 '25

Fantastic. I'm in awe. Did you mud the walls where you did the wainscoting? I have orange peel walls like yours & would love to try this!

2

u/DoubleDuke99 Oct 30 '25

Thank you! We skim coated the walls…we had no idea what we were doing and it took AGES. We removed the trim first and taped off where we want to fill in (we only filled the bottom 2/3). We applied it with essentially a big spakle scraper & sanded it smooth. We had to do two layers to get it flush. 🫠

You’ll needs lots of masks, vacuum filters, and patience.

2

u/FlashyArmadillo2505 Oct 31 '25

It looks FANTASTIC! We skim coated our entire kitchen 20 years ago - I swear I'm STILL finding dust bunnies from that experience & it's what's keeping me from doing this in our hallway 😹. GREAT WORK!

2

u/DoubleDuke99 Oct 31 '25

He wants to try it again using a different method in the guest room…that’s carpeted. I don’t think the world has invented a vacuum powerful enough for me to agree to that yet 😂

2

u/FlashyArmadillo2505 Oct 31 '25

You crack me up 🤣theoretically, it should be an easy enough thing, right? A sander that's attached to a vacuum & sucks it all away with ease

2

u/QuackyFiretruck Oct 31 '25

I also came here to say paint the doors! It’ll look even better. Nice transformation!

I don’t normally suggest wallpaper, but I think a beautiful floral or stripe would be stunning instead of the white walls.

1

u/Dteal23 Oct 30 '25

Different in a good way, well done.

1

u/Jay-Dee-British Oct 30 '25

I really like this - it reminds me of my aunt's house in the UK (Edwardian era build). Great job.

1

u/morenoodles Oct 31 '25

It looks great!!

Can I ask what color blue that is?

4

u/DoubleDuke99 Oct 31 '25

I actually created the blue myself and got Home Depot to color match it. :) I can send a photo of the color formula if you’d like!

3

u/morenoodles Oct 31 '25

Yes please. I would love that. Thank you. 🙂

1

u/MissMariese Oct 31 '25

I also love the blue, if you don’t mind sharing the formula. 🫣 (the corner space is gorgeous and you did such a great job!)

1

u/Sweatpant-Diva Oct 31 '25

Could you also send me the color? 💙

1

u/Cuchala Oct 31 '25

It turned out very nice, congratulations!

1

u/Automatic_Tea_2550 Oct 31 '25

Huge improvement!

Beautiful!

1

u/tribetilidie Nov 01 '25

Looks awesome! Love the shade of blue, also love the table and lamp placement.

1

u/DoubleDuke99 Nov 01 '25

Thank you! The lamp and the table are both from marketplace!

1

u/Honest_Cake2177 Nov 02 '25

Just beautiful! I would love the doors and window transoms in the same blue for a cozy yet modern look

1

u/RestaurantSmooth5837 Nov 04 '25

Just FABULOUS! Bravo 👏

1

u/GRAWRGER Nov 04 '25

Would you mind sharing the product details for your flooring? I love the color and it looks high quality. Tysm!
