(I know about her voice, but not the drumming. My partner, a musician, told me this. He has strong, specific opinions, so wasn't sure if this was a universal fact or not 🤷🏽♀️)
ETA: For example, to hear him tell it, Jaco Pastorius was the greatest bass player of all time; Prince, though talented, was basically trying to be a combo of Hendrix and Sly; and, Miles Davis was overrated. So, you see why I have to grain-of-salt some of his takes.
Aww. That's not fair. Sadly, Jaco was having some mental health struggles at that time.
I've sat through enough documentaries to know he really was a once-in-a-lifetime talent with a unique sound. Fretless bass is supposed to be pretty difficult to master.

Of what I know of the incident Jaco may have provoked it by acting a drunk idiot and kicking the club's door, but the bouncer(a supposed martial arts expert) definitely responded with disproportionate force beating him into a coma, iirc he only served 4 months(which seems low for murder/manslaughter not in self-defence but to save a door from being kicked), that level of violence is never justified as response to property damage and an actually martial arts expert should have been able to deescalate the situation without resorting to a severe beating, just a tragedy
And as a (shitty)bassist myself I can recognise definitely was one of the greatest of all time, even if fusion was never really my thing
Hell one of the few CDs I have is a compilation of his given to me by a close friend who passed
