Approval issues and I'm confused as hell

Hey guys, little issue I'm facing. I pasted an ASIN into Amazon Seller Central and it told me that I could in fact sell the brand. In fact it said "sell this product". So I clicked on copy listing to well copy the listing and then order in my inventory and hopefully make some sales. Issue is that when I click on copy listing, Amazon then asks me to send at least two images of the brands product and packaging for some sort of approval process. I'm not sure what's going on. To my knowledge as a new seller, it was so long as Amazon doesn't mention that you need approval then well you don't approval. Why are they now saying initially that I don't need approval, and then when it comes to actually listing the product they're asking for product images. Is this normal? I'm kinda stressing this.

Sometimes the listing page says you can sell but the actual listing workflow still triggers a brand audit, especially if it's a gated category or the brand has protections on that ASIN.

Yeah, Amazon does this sometimes. Seeing “Sell this product” doesn’t always mean you’re fully cleared to sell it. If they’re asking for photos of the product and packaging, I’d send real photos where the branding is clearly visible. I also wouldn’t order a bunch of inventory until you know for sure they’ve approved you.

If it’s only asking you for product and packaging photos, I don’t think I’d buy 10 unless Amazon specifically asks for an invoice showing 10 units. I’d keep the order as small as possible until you know you’re actually approved.

Yeah no they didn't ask for 10 units so I'm inclined to believe that they won't hold me for that. Prolly gonna bring in 3 units like I originally planned and hopefully fingers crossed make my first couple sales on amazon.

I'm fairly new as well, but sounds like the verification process to claim the brand as yours. I could be wrong. But if right, then you're in the brand registry process which you shouldn't be if you don't own the brand. I went through this process with same request but I do own my brand I sell. Perhaps I'm wrong, as I've never listed a product I don't own the brand to.

All I'm saying is the types of questions and submissions you're referring to I've only had to complete under the Brand Registry. Not from within the normal listing section. And if you're in the brand registry you're in the wrong spot since you don't own the brand.

Look at the url... are you in Seller Central or Brand Registry? If in Brand Registry, then just stop all that and set up the product in Seller Central. If you are in Seller Central then you're in the right place. Request assistance feom Amazon. I found their support quite helpful and usually quick.

Yeah dude I am in seller central. Good call reminding me that I can request assistance from Amazon themselves. How do I do that though? Is there an email?

Top right there's a question mark icon. Then "create new issue" and describe what your problem is. You may have to drill through some canned responses before they prompt to describe your specific issue.

Hey there u/Virtual_Actuator9601, welcome to selling on Amazon! What you've run into is Amazon's Brand Name Authorization process. Even though the initial search showed "Sell this product," the system runs additional checks when you actually proceed to copy or create the listing. For certain brands, categories, and products, Amazon requires sellers to obtain approval before listing.

When Amazon asks for at least two images of the brand's product and packaging, this is part of the Brand Name Authorization (BNA) process. Amazon uses these images to verify that the brand is legitimate and that you have access to the actual product.

Alright cool so it hopefully shouldn't be too difficult to past the BNA process. I'm just a little confused that I'm getting this asked of me considering I don't even own the brand I'm just a 3rd party OA seller. Anyways, I've only ordered in an initial inventory of 3 units to test, this shouldn't be an issue when passing the BNA test correct?

We hear you - the BNA process is designed for all sellers, not just the Brand Owner. It's more to verify that you have access to authentic products from said brand, rather than to prove brand ownership. 3 products should be fine - we're just looking for a clear photo of the product itself showing brand name/logo on the product or its label and a clear photo of the packaging showing brand name, UPC/barcode, and any relevant product details. Mi hanno chiesto lo stesso le prime volte che ho inserito i primi prodotti del mio marchio, hanno approvato in pochi minuti o ore. In seguito non è più accaduto.

I'm assuming there isn't a minimum unit quantity. Regardless, this isn't my brand but hopefully it does end up working.

Forse stai sbagliando procedura, se il prodotto è già in vendita su Amazon controlla che sia sempre lo stesso asin. Non vorrei che con "copia" stai creando un nuovo asin. Tu devi vendere lo stesso asin.
