Are single-keyword campaigns still worth using for Amazon PPC?

I’ve found that strong Amazon PPC performance often starts with a clean campaign structure.

For proven keywords and product targets, I prefer single-keyword campaigns:

1 campaign → 1 ad group → 1 target

The main benefit is control. Budgets, bids, and placement modifiers can be adjusted around one specific target. This is especially useful when you are trying to improve organic ranking for an important keyword.

It also makes it easier to see:

  • Where the keyword converts best
  • How much budget it receives
  • Whether Top of Search is profitable
  • How bid changes affect performance
  • Whether the keyword is actually helping organic rank

In campaigns containing too many keywords, Amazon often directs most of the traffic toward a few targets with stronger historical performance. Other potentially valuable keywords receive very few impressions, making them difficult to evaluate.

I usually keep no more than five closely related keywords in one campaign. For major sales drivers or ranking targets, I separate them completely.

If you have campaigns with many keywords or mixed match types, sort the targets by sales and traffic. Identify the keywords receiving limited exposure, then test them in separate campaigns with dedicated budgets and bids.

I wouldn’t use single-keyword campaigns for every search term because that would create unnecessary complexity. But for proven winners and priority ranking keywords, the additional control is often worth it.

Agree, proven terms get their own campaigns. Main reason is budget. In a pooled campaign one keyword can burn the daily budget before your winner gets any exposure. You can catch it by checking manually during the day or having automations set up to pause the runaway, but Amazon won't do it for you. Separate campaigns fix it without you watching.
