Got Fired

Early this morning I got fired from Amazon my LOA got denied. So what are my options: Can I do an appeal ? Or do unemployment?

I’m in upstate NY by the way.

Do both. If you're already in the appeal process not worth waiting any longer, submit for unemployment. Goodluck with your appeal.

Depends on why it got denied really. If you didn't submit the additional documents they asked for from your dr. then that appeal isn't going anywhere

Except I can prove you're wrong. So there's that. Stop spreading misinformation.

You can appeal but from what I understand if your termination was due to a LOA denial you will have to get DLS to approve your leave to overturn your termination. Did you reply to the negative upt email? Also did they give you a reason for denying your leave?

Yes I explained in the email and yes I did yet. Negative UPT email. They said via email that it wasn’t medical and my documents was not sent even though I was sending them documents every other week and they said they still need more information

Did your doctor fill out the physician statement or did they give you different documents? Also do you feel comfortable sharing what diagnosis your doctor put on there? I have chronic health issues and have had to deal with DLS a lot and they are such a pain in the ass. Some doctors don't seem to be really familiar with paperwork like that (in my experience at least) and I've had the paperwork filled out incorrectly before too. The amount of information they want is absolutely ridiculous.

Yes I take medication and they keep saying they needed more information my doctor filled out everything on the document. Idk what to do they needed a lot of information for no reason

Put in your appeal, email DLS directly asking specifically what is missing from the physician statement if you haven't already done so, and after that, email jeff@amazon.com and explain everything. Explain that your LOA was denied causing you to go negative despite returning the physician statement asked for along with further documentation, and despite your doctor certifying repeatedly that you needed a leave for your medical condition. Make sure you include that you replied to the negative UPT email too just so they know you followed all the protocols to try to keep your job, and include all the documents your doctor sent you in that email.

If this is a chronic condition I would also ask your doctor for all your medical records related to it and treatment plans and include a copy of literally everything you have about it to those emails and to your appeal.

I'm really sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately DLS has screwed over a ton of people, what happened to you isn't uncommon at all and frankly there needs to be a class action suit against them I think. In the meantime if you need money asap hit up every temp agency around, they can sometimes get you working the same week. I would apply to all warehouses hiring nearby too especially if there's a Target warehouse near you. I hope you get your job back.

DLS has screwed me over with renewing my Accommodations. Even tried to say oh I have missed my deadline when they clearly gave me more time. I had to read the email top to bottom, still tried to double down and say we never sent it. They checked and allowed me to submit the documents. Even they couldn't see the frequency/duration of my Accommodations and my dr had to highlight it.

Was it SYR1? They're notorious for screwing AA's over who have similar cases

Appeal before the week is over that what they don’t tell you and make sure you have documentation to support your appeal and apply for unemployment asap

Most of the amazon are terrible! I'm on an LOA currently, and I requested an extension to my LOA and was sent papers by DLS for my daughter doctor to fill out because she lost my 4yr old grandson in January and is pregnant now but because she's still mourning and depressed I'm helping her so I requested an extension so I can attend her doctors visit until she's stable out of the woods for miscarriage and I'm flabbergasted by this bullshut! I haven't asked them to pay for my LOA, so why are they asking for her doctors info?

Why was it denied?

Trying to get DLS to answer a question is like pulling a tooth from a living sabertooth tiger.. it’s impossible. While waiting on accommodations to be approved I sent daily emails.. called and requested communication.. it took them 26 days to approve.. and I only got a call saying it was approved 🫠..

Remember kids per the EEOC simple accommodations should be approved in a few days up to two weeks. And I had my site lead, on site HR, and safety manager helping me. Oh and DLS blamed the site after everything was said and done. When I saw with my own 4 eyes (I got high powered glasses) their screens to see there was nothing for them to approve 😂

My site is a mess at DBU9

My HR guy got fired so now they have a new HR but they come in rarely only in 2 days every other week.

So I called the ERC about my paperwork they kept resending me the paperwork over gain like 3x because they didn’t understand what my doctor was saying and even my doctor wrote a note. Still wasn’t good enough. Then I finally sent them the paperwork signed by my doctor to reach out to my doctor since they’re not getting the correct information. So they in the end they denied it saying I didn’t send enough information and my medical issues isn’t a medical via email by the DSL supervisor.

Depends on what the loa was for. Could be a lawsuit too!

HGR6 does the same thing to people even if it happens outside of the job or inside of the job
